It looks like Andrew Lloyd Webber is hoping that lightening will strike the same place twice. Phantom: Love Never Dies is, if all goes well, set to open in London's West End, New York's Broadway and an Asian country which Webber hopes will be China.
The story will take place in Coney Island in or around the year 1900 and would feature, the Phantom, Madame Giry, Meg, Christine, Raul, and their teen aged son who also happens to be a musical genius. Link
I don't think is a good idea. TPotO ended in a good way. Yes we don't know what happens to him; but we do know that at least Christine didn't see him as a monster:
The movie, while making a good choice to move the Chandelier scene to the end, fouled up nearly everything else.
I don't know, maybe Webber has lost his creativity. The last musical of his I saw was Sunset Blvd. and while a few of the songs were catchy (Sunset Blvd., With One Look and The Greatest Star of All) the rest of the musical was bore.
So Phantom Phans, what do you think about a sequel to The Phantom Of The Opera?

Christine:
Pitiful creature of darkness
What kind of like have you known?
God give me courage to show you
You are not alone
[Christine gives the Phantom a full kiss on the lips.
Stuned, the Phantom then releases her and Raoul.]
How can a sequel improve on this magnificent musical?Pitiful creature of darkness
