the other doctor, specials and beyond//spoilers!

As usual the nature of my information means not everything is true//the fun is is finding out which titbits are correct.

David Morrissey is playing an actual doctor who’s a Victorian adventurer; he isn’t an imposter or future incarnation.

The Master will not appear in any of the specials.

The Silurians will though, although Sea Devils will not.

One special will feature a male companion.

David has asked Russell for an ‘Androzani’ of an exit.

Lily Allen will play the companion in one of the specials. Interestingly she’ll be already travelling with the Doctor at the start of the episode, and will depart with him at the end.

Russell wanted Captain Jack for one of the specials, but Barrowman is too busy.

Although he isn’t writing any of the specials, Moffat is liaising with Russell over the creation of a new alien race who will be the bad guys in one of the specials and who will reappear in season 5.

Russell T Davies will have a cameo in the final Tennant story. Expect Tennant to look a little older in his final story.

Frazer Hines has also been approached about starring in one of the specials.
------------------------------------

Regarding casting for the 11th Doctor. I’m somewhat out of the loop now, but the impression I get is that Moffat is considering several different people. Paterson Joseph’s name was leaked to get the feel for how a black Doctor would go down. He isn’t being considered. Colin Salmon’s name has been mentioned more than once however.

The 11th Doctor will definitely not be a woman!!

Shouldn't you be selling these scoops to the tabloids instead of just giving them away for free.

Actually, with the usual 'Everything Might Be An RTD Fib' provisio in place the only things we know for defnite about the Specials are that two of them take place on Earth, two on other planets, there'll only be one returning baddie and the Doctor will have a different temporary Companion in each one (not all of whom will be female).

Beyond that Davies has said that he waited until Moffat had start plotting out Series 5 before coming up with the ideas for the Specials in order to let them set stuff up. (And now we know what he meant by that!)

But what about Paul Kaye? And when will they tell us that the series five showrunner is really Chris Chibnall?

The future is not set it is in constant flux. Alliances shift, friendships end, and new opportunities arise. I may not always speak the truth but in both those cases I did to the best of my knowledge, and Chris is still highly thought of within the Beeb, so don’t rule out the prediction coming true, just at a later time

As for the tabloids, they pay so little, and I am not poor so what is there to gain? I prefer to offer my words directly to the fans rather than aiding murdoch and co

AFAIK...

David Morrissey is playing an actual doctor who’s a Victorian adventurer;

True

he isn’t an imposter

Probably false

or future incarnation.

True

The Master will not appear in any of the specials.

Heh. I don't think that's decided yet, actually

The Silurians will though,

Wait and see

although Sea Devils will not.

Wanna bet?

One special will feature a male companion.

Possibly true, but not definitely set yet - depends who's available

David has asked Russell for an ‘Androzani’ of an exit.

Wouldn't surprise me

Lily Allen will play the companion in one of the specials. Interestingly she’ll be already travelling with the Doctor at the start of the episode, and will depart with him at the end.

Don't hold your breath

Russell wanted Captain Jack for one of the specials, but Barrowman is too busy.

Um, I'd be astonished if Jack doesn't show up.

Although he isn’t writing any of the specials, Moffat is liaising with Russell over the creation of a new alien race who will be the bad guys in one of the specials and who will reappear in season 5.

True - RTD waited to see Moffatt's rough ideas before writing the four 2009 specials

Russell T Davies will have a cameo in the final Tennant story.

He's had several already!

Expect Tennant to look a little older in his final story.

or not, as the case may be

Frazer Hines has also been approached about starring in one of the specials.

Bzzt

Regarding casting for the 11th Doctor. I’m somewhat out of the loop now,

Evidently

but the impression I get is that Moffat is considering several different people.

There's a shock; having a shortlist for a role.

Paterson Joseph’s name was leaked to get the feel for how a black Doctor would go down.

Actually it's just a hangover from fan wishful-thinking

He isn’t being considered. Colin Salmon’s name has been mentioned more than once however.

Nah...

The 11th Doctor will definitely not be a woman!!

Based on your track record so far, this suggests he will!

^Where did RTD have cameos in the episodes already? Must get the box sets out at once!
(I am not being sarcastic here, question is genuine)

In other words, "Nothing I say ever has to be accurate but I still deserve to be taken seriously." No, thanks.

It's pretty obvious from The Writer's Tale that Moffat was the only serious candidate to replace Davies, and that book makes the timeline pretty clear: the first discussion between the two was in July 2007, Moffat mentioned to Davies that he would accept in September 2007, negotiations were well underway in October 2007, and the two were discussing how to handle the transition from a story angle by December 2007. Which makes it very hard to believe that anyone with real info could still have said "Chris Chibnall" in January 2008.

Translation: I am spouting a bunch of bullshit based on rumors I have seen elsewhere, leaps of logic, and personal desires.

Conclusion: You are full of it.

His voice is one of the "Are you my mummy?" voices in the cliffhanger of The Empty Child (it's very distinctive, and a little louder than the others!)

ISTR he's also visible in one of the street/crowd scenes in Rise Of The Cybermen

The Silurians will though, although Sea Devils will not.

I remember reading an interview with RTD a while back, where he was asked which classic alien he like to see return. He said that although he has already brought back the ones he absolutely wanted to, he wouldn't mind seeing a return by the Silurians, but emphasised they won't be featured in anything he's writing. Since RTD is writing all the 09 specials, I doubt we'll be seeing Silurians next year.

Of course, the obvious argument now is that RTD has been known to mislead us. Like when he said he didn't like the Master (and then we got the S3 finale arc) or when he said he never cared for multi-Doctor stories (and then we got Time Crash).

Along with "I don't like the Master, so I wouldn't use him, but if some other writer had a good enough story, they could" and "There are no Daleks in series 2" etc?

The question he was asked when he mentioned the Silurians was "What other Doctor Who monsters would you have brought back if you had continued to produce the programme for the next few years?" There was no reason for him to mention the Silurians at all if bringing them back is part of his plan for the specials. I suppose we could claim that it's fiendish reverse psychology, but come on- does anyone really believe that "return of the Silurians" would be a big secret on the level of "return of the Master" or "Daleks vs. Cybermen?" It's not like he tried to hide Autons or Sontarans or Macra.

There's not that many left anway. You could say the Ice Warriors / Siluarians / Sea Devils / Zygons / Yeti are coming back in the Specials / Series 5 and you're bound to be right about at least one of them.

 shit do you work for the sun or somethinG?

^More likely the Sun got it from this thread or one like it at another forum- there's been ample evidence that they use spoiler threads for "scoops."
