The Only Thing I DON'T Want to See in Transformers: ROTF...

On a side note, I heard that Optimus Prime's death was so "traumatic" to kids in the 80's movie, that they had to change the ending for the GI Joe animated movie.

They planned on killing off Duke in the Gi Joe Movie but changed it at the last minute to only him getting poisoned. That's why they stuck that audio blurb at the end that said Duke was going to be alright.

...is Optimus Prime die. He kicked the robobucket in the '86 movie (but was revived a year or two later), and he bit the cyberbullet again in the Japanese Headmasters series. Let the guy live, for crying out loud!

I haven't followed most of the spoilers, so I have no idea if Optimus will be sent to the junkyard in the sky. I just hope he doesn't. (I've watched the trailer, though, so I know that he gets his head bashed by Mysterious Bad Bot.)

That is all.

I think Optimus dies in every series, comics included. So, I wouldn't be surprised. He almost died in the first one.

Yup, you got it. I was in the theater in Times Square watching the movie as a kid. That whole movie was shocking, with all the rampant killing of well established characters.

Broccoli: Why do you consider the concept ridiculous? Ok, in most of its incarnations, it is played in a ridiculous manner, mostly because its intended for children. But is the idea of a warring race of alien robots, large enough to reconfigure themselves to look like our vehicles for the purposes of infiltration really that ridiculous compared to a lot of other scifi concepts out there?

(sorry forgot to quote)
