I'll be the dissenting voice.
It does what it does pretty well, but I've found satire as a form of comedy less and less funny over the years, unless it's really razor-sharp. There's too much cheap satire without a real point and with fuzzy logic. The Onion's satire is often lazy so I don't read it regularly
I agree, same with The Daily Show. I found it very funny the first time I watched, but the longer I watched, the more the peaks and troughs became more pronounced. I no longer check it every week now.
Northern Ireland had it's own version, www.portadownnews.com. It finished when the editor was "outed" by a local rag for working on the site while at work. Did him the world of good it seems as he's now working on political commentary for a living. Best thing was, it meant it went out on a high, if he'd tried to continue into our times of peace, he might have struggled to make things as funny.
