The One thing that Erked me about the Eugenics War Novels

A Vulcan walking around America since the mid nineteen fifties on, physically and mentally superior to probably either Gary Seven or Khan and he remains on the bench or did we think a drunk T'Pol was having a bit of a laugh?

Except that the Eugenics War novels were published in july 2001 and "Carbon Creek" Aired in September of 2002. Also I believe Mestral was a pretty humble guy and desired to keep a low profile considering he was, y'know, an Alien.

Retroactive continuity is just grand though, should there be call for a third book in the series.

There was. Khan left Earth at the end of Book Two. Then "Space Seed" and "ST II" happen. Then some more movies. Then Book Three takes place, but on Ceti Alpha V, not Earth. Hence no Mestral.

Or do you mean you want a sequel to "Carbon Creek"?

Nope. I looks like I have a third book to look for before I go complain again about the depth of my ignorance.

To be fair to the OP it isn't labeled as Book Three and really the only connection to the other two plot wise is Khan (as in taking place centuries later, different planet, no Gary Seven & Roberta etc..).

Thanks for coming to my defense, foravalon. And, yeah, the first two Khan books were written before a single episode of ENTERPRISE aired.

I certainly would have included Mestral if I'd known about him!

Honestly, I don't have any more to tell. I have no idea what I would have done with the character, but I'm sure I would have worked him in somewhere.

At this late date, I can barely remember what I did write. After all, that was sixteen books ago . . . !

And apparently the third prize winner from Strange New Worlds IX is all about Mestral.

So people think he was doing all sorts of stuff during the vital bits of the earths history. I got some reading to do.

Personally I would have seen him have a love affair with Lucy Ball eventually. But that's just me.

Yup! I got a cool thousand bucks outta that one!

Which I then spent, so if people want to keep buying the book so that there's the off-chance I'll someday get like a cent of royalties..........
