The Offspring--not only one of the Best Data Episodes?

The Offspring remains a really moving episode. I say this despite the fact that the whole take-Lal-away-from-Data subplot is tedious in the extreme. I think they focused on that to the detriment of the episode and to the issue of Lal's development. Despite the flaws it's a moving episode.

On the subject of Data--which are the best Data episodes, in your view?

Don't forget "The Most Toys" and, while not entirely a Data ep, "Redemption, Pt. II," has him in command of a starship and dealing with human prejudice against androids. -- RR

Well my personal favorite is Hero Worship, followed by Thine Own Self, Time's Arrow, The Most Toys, and Data's Day. Measure of a Man is pretty good as well, though not particularly one of my faves. Deja Q also has some excellent scenes with Data and Q.

And as much as I love any Data episode, I don't really like The Schizoid Man (except the opening scene where Data has a beard.)

My absolute favorite is "The Measure of a Man" followed by "The Offspring", "The Most Toys", and I love "Time's Arrow" and also "A Fistful of Datas". There's so many good Data episodes, I'm probably forgetting some.

My only problem with the episode is that you knew she was going to die or leave the ship from the second she was created. That said the writer's did a good job of maintaining suspence because it seemed plausible she would be forced to leave the ship so the outcome was not set in stone.

Redemption and Time's Arrow. I actually find Redemption more interesting than A Measure of a Man in examining Data's place in society.

The Offspring is not only one of my least favorite Data episodes, it is one of my least favorite TNG episodes!!! I am not a Lal fan!!!!

^ BTW, Phantasms is probably my favorite Data episode! Two of my favorite scenes are with Bev drinking out of a straw attached to Riker's head and the Deana Troi/ cellular frosting cake with mint frosting!!
