Stress Relief

Airs: Sunday February 1, 2009
When Dwight's fire-safety seminar causes trouble, he decides to help calm the other workers. Michael discovers he's the main office stressor, so decides to hold a roast, in order to make them feel more comfortable around him. While watching a bootleg video, Andy believes that Jim and Pam are film gurus.
Almost missed it

Kevin- Call it

The overall episode was an A-/B+, but the first twenty minutes with the fire and then the CPR class were probably the funniest sequences the show has ever done.

Also...was anyone else surprised by the new opening? I wonder if that was just a Super Bowl special or if it will be the standard one.

So many good parts tonight

"Meredith, you sleep with so many guys, you're beginning to look like one"

and her expression was priceless

"Kevin, I couldn't decide between a dumb joke and a fat joke, boom roasted!"

Dwight peeling off the face of the dummy ala "Silence of the Lambs" was priceless

Easily one of the best openings, outstanding! I liked how they incorporated the guest stars. I was afraid their appearance would overrun the show, but the writers know how to keep true to their characters. Why I love the show. :)

The subplot with Andy, PB&J and the movie had me laughing the most after the fire incidents. It helped undercut the major mushy factor with Pam at the end (though I loved that bit, I'm a huge PB&J shipper) and a nice bridge throughout the hour.

Best episode of the year so far. I loved the cat through the ceiling and Dwight with the CPR dummy!
I wasn't a big fan of the roast, but it'll be interesting to see if Michael changes at all as a result. I assume not, but you never know.

"Stanley, you will not die! Stanley, Stanley, Barack is President. You are black, Stanley!"

That was the funniest opening to the show ever. I was dying when the cat fell back through the ceiling.

Completely over the top from even the usual antics on the show, and there's no way in hell that Dwight wouldn't have been fired (then again, Michael still works there), but it was well worth it.

The 'Silence of the Lambs' bit with the CPR dummy was hilarious.

Very funny stuff. I think the funniest thing was the way people's pulse and stress level starts going crazy just when Michael gets within five feet of them :D Too bad Alba was only in it for all of 30 seconds. I thought that Pam was going to be more angry at Jim for convincing her father to leave her mother. The episode did another great job of leapfrogging between making Michael an asshole and a pathetic figure to be pitied.

What happened in the last 15 minutes? My TiVo wasn't smart enough to start recording it later, so I have 15 minutes of post-game stuff instead.

"The fire is shooting at us!!!!" :guffaw:

I was starting to get really nervous about Jim & Pam. I love them so much that I panic every time the writers even hint at breaking them up. So I found that ending EXTREMELY satisfying. :adore:

I'm expecting a budget cut episode in our near future - did you see all the equipment they destroyed in the non-fire-pandemonium? At least now they'll HAVE to get a new copier. ;)

Speaking of the copier, was the shot of the group ramming the copier into the door a parody of United 93?

Batman got out of the trap.

Then he and Robin beat the fuck out of Penguin and his henchmen.

Joe, same Bat-time ...

I thought it was a much more return to form episode for the office.

"What if the handle is just warm, what's that mean?" -Andy, checking for hot door handles

"That's what He said. Right, cause your gay." - to Oscar

The cat "living" inside the filing cabinet was interesting.

"No, no only friends" - Michael to Toby at the roast
Cause you know all the other roasters are truly his friend.

The Jack Black movie. It did not occur to me till half way in that it wasn't an honest to god "real" Jack Black movie. I finally recalled that I had read he was going to guest star and this "original" movie was it. Kudos to the writers and Black I loved it!!

I feel the now super sappy Jim/Pam thing must end. Get married already and lets move on to something else. Let that fall to side as a finished plot point.

This was the funniest Office episode I can remember. I watched it with my dad, and he had me rewind the recording to watch the cat fall through ceiling again, while both of us almost fell out of our chairs . Dwight going for the organs and putting on the dummy's face, Jack Black's movie, the entire roast, Stanley guffawing at Michael's jokes at the end, just everything was perfect.

Special mention to the Jim & Pam plot, I keep getting worried every time they make me think they're going to break up, and then they cleverly end up even closer. Man do I love those two characters together! The writers have done a great job making their post-engagement relationship as fun to watch as the old days with pining Jim.

I never really watch The Office (I have a passing familiarity with it), but this was one of the funniest episodes of anything I've ever seen. All of my friends and I were dying with laughter.
