Have you guys seen this? It's a trailer for a new book called The Night of the Living Trekkies ...

BTW, since when do they actually produce trailers for a book?

I believe George Lucas did a trailer years ago for the 'Shadow of the Empire' novel....and they currently have a trailer for an upcoming behind-the-scenes book on 'Empire Strikes Back.'

An author I know (from an online writer's group) made a trailer for her book that is soon-to-be-released.

So, yes, they do have trailers for books.;)

Hm, okay, must be an US thing then. I've never seen something like that in Germany ...

by Quirk books? or was that Quark books?

looks fun - if not life changing or anything . . .

A friend of mine asked a good question: how can they possibly sell enough books to pay for that trailer?

I admit I'm not sure how that works.

Maybe a group of fan film fanatics donated their time and money?

Elaborate book trailers are becoming pretty common. And I can't imagine fanfilm enthusiasts donating their time and money to sell a company's product.

Well, I can. Over the years, the Star Trek fans I know have dedicated their lives into helping promote Star Trek for free - in all of its forms.

What's the difference between a trailer for a Star Trek fan film and a trailer for a commercial Star Trek parody book?

The students at my school make book trailers for children's picture books as part of school assignments. All I'm thinking is that Quirk Publishing may have thrown a little money (or other resources) at some young film makers, or university film students, wanting to get a start in the business.
