"The Next Phase" A DS9 Conection?

I was re-watching “The Next Phase” on DVD the other night, and came across a connection that I never read or heard about. The transporter Chief who looses Geordi and Ro in the transporter accident and subsequently works with Cmdr. Data throughout the episode sounds just like the Cardassian Computer used on DS9. Now the credits say that Chief Brossmer was played by actress Shelby Leverington, and the computer on DS9 was voiced by Judi Durand, who also voiced the computer in many other Trek related titles.

But if want to see what my fuss is about watch the last act, starting with the Funeral and listen to the voice Data talks with about starting the scans in Ten-Forward. Is that voice not DS9’s computer. Is this the same actress, but using different name? Or is it an audio dub? Or am I missing the mark here?

For some reason I LOVE this episode. I'm not sure how popular it is in fandom, but for some reason it's one of my favourite Trek episodes.

As to your guess, can't really say I think i'd need to watch some DS9 and "The Next Phase" side by side to check. I find it unlikely however looking at the IMDB credits for each of the actresses. Judi Durand seems to be primarily a voice actress, I can't even find an image of her.

I guess it's possible that Judi Durand was around, Leverington was not, and they got her to do those voiceover parts and she didn't get credited for some reason. I doubt it's likely though, "The Next Phase" was made about a year before DS9 started. I wonder if Durand was cast already and just happened to be floating around?

Interesting trivia looking through the cast list for "The Next Phase" it also starred Susanna Thompson as one of the Romulans. She played the Borg Queen later on in Voyager. Must go back and rewatch it, I haven't seen it in years!

Yeah I always enjoyed this episode too. Originally for the fun concept of walking through walls, even though when and where they could do this was kind of based on the story's needs.

I was rewatching it because I just got the Season 5 dvds, which all seasons of Trek are still at a crazy low price of 35bucks on Amazon. Both Romulan officers played by the previous mentioned Susanna Thompson, and Thomas Kopache are both star trek veterens.

I would love to get to the bottom of this, because her voice in that seen is identical to that of DS9s computer. Of course Judi Durand is also credited as the space dock controller voice in ST III. If anyone else has this ep available let me know what you think.
