The new Lorca?

I haven't heard or read anything about this so not sure if I'm shouting in the wind or miraculously predicting the future! But I think in the next season of Discovery the crew will come face to face with the real Gabriel Lorca, and he will be a nicer and less manipulative version of the character we sort of met in the first season! Any thoughts?

I don't think we've seen the last of (any) Lorca, but he might not be back right away. I think he'll pop up when we least expect it.

Or maybe he'll show up in a flashback.

I hope so. Would be nice to happen in second half of season. Have first half working on problem with Enterprise and Pike as the temporary captain. With maybe mid-season cliffhanger - Lorca show up!

I kinda hope we don't. Either he's a disappointment or he's as compelling as EviLorca and I'd want Isaacs back full-time.

This season is only 13 episodes. I hope there isn't a mid-season split.

I think the showrunners have basically said they have no plans to bring him back right away, but he could show up again later on in the most unexpected place.

I don't expect to see him till season 3.

I think we'll get a new Lorca in a more general sense...it's hard not to think they will want to do another "twist character" this season (they do so love their DRAMATIC REVEALS!), so someone will almost certainly be not what they seem.

This is what I also think they'll do. So, when the time comes, we'll be like "Lorca who?"

But I think Lorca might eventually turn up at some point anyway (whether or not it's S2 is a whole other story).

You know what I want the real Lorca to be like. I want him to be more of outwardly nice guy and someone who is very friendly but the twist is that on the inside he is not what he seems to be on the surface. Maybe he works for Section 31 or has some dark secret in the past. Think of William Macy in "Fargo." He is very polite and well mannered and maybe not someone who is even violent but he has the ability to rationlize some very dark idea's and carry them out yet not even loose his outwardly nice guy traits unless he starts to feel stress because things he does don't play out like he thought they would.

Didn't Cornwall describe the character and demeanor how prime Lorca was in briefing room after finding out about the mirror Lorca? She said something to the extent that he was kind and I can't remember the rest. Maybe someone can help me out.

But almost nothing in this show so far has happened when we least expect it. Almost everything has happened pretty much exactly when we expect it. I'm hard-pressed to think of another show where all the surprises are so disappointingly unsurprising!...

I see what you mean with a lot of it... but Landry's and Culber's sudden deaths caught me by surprise. I figured we'd see the Enterprise eventually but it showing up right at the end of the first season was something I never would've guessed.

I saw Lorca's end coming though (but not necessarily that he was from the MU), that Burnham would get her rank restored (how could anyone who's been watching TV all their lives not guess that?), and Section 31 might figure in (references to black badges made me jump to S31 immediately).

Ash/Voq, I guess you could call it split down the middle. I never would've figured it out on my own, and didn't buy into it when the theory first appeared online. I changed my mind during the mid-season finale and that's when I became sure Ash was Voq.

So my speculations on what would happen have been half-and-half. I try my best to predict, but I'm wrong as often as I'm right, so some people are better attuned than I am in that department.

It's interesting that MULorca was able to get by for so long in the regular universe without raising suspicion, considering how MU Kirk and co. behaved in "Mirror, Mirror."
Spock said:
It was far easier for you as civilised men to behave like barbarians, than it was for them as barbarians to behave like civilised men.

Me either, but not for the right reasons. I can't believe they went there that soon. But I would have said the same thing about the MU. They're pulling out all the stakes to get fan subscriptions.
