Game The Most Disliked Visit To Earths "Present"

My next save is "Remembrance".

Besides the obvious inner child geekiness of getting Picard back, I got some moments of absolute pure joy... seeing Data again.

I am not ashamed to admit I shed a few tears of joy at seeing my beloved character back for those scenes. And hearing Picard describe him... Data truly was the embodiment of a hero.

The series premiere set up the season pretty well, and it was good to see that moment when Picard became Picard again when he realized he was not living, just waiting to die.

And special bonus... the Enterprise-D looked gorgeous.

I will save "Image In The Sand." I really like the tone of this episode, it's a cool way to set up the final season and these three stories they're doing. And the arrival of Ezri at Sisko's in the final scene is MAGIC. I dial it up and watch just that scene all the time.

Though, one complaint, which I've ranted about many a time, but I'll now do it once more: I find it absolutely insane that we're expected to believe that VIC FONTAINE was Dax's favorite singer. Centuries of listening to musicians from across the galaxy, and we're supposed to believe nothing and no one tops Vic Fontaine? :brickwall: Not buying it.

Robert Duncan McNeil was so good here playing the roguish Locarno, they hired him for Voyager. It's just a shame that Paris was a reboot, and not the original character.

Ain't that the truth! I assume they swapped the characters to avoid having to make character payments to "The First Duty" writers, which was a mistake. It would have been worth it.

Regeneration. It's the Borg story that shouldn't work, but somehow does. And darn it the homage to The Thing (From Another World) might be an old one, but it's one they pull off well.

I will save the thoroughly entertaining Star Trek into Darkness. It was a great follow-up to Star Trek 09.

Still liking "Caretaker." It was a great set-up to the series. And the scenes on Earth, introducing Paris and Janeway, did a good job of establishing their characters.

I'll save the other half of DS9's season 7 opener with "Shadows & Symbols." The intercutting at the climax is so damn good, as Benny Russell writes "Sisko opens the box" as Sisko opens the box and the wormhole is re-opened.

I really wish they'd done more with Cretak after this, she could have been such a great addition. She could have been the new female regular, and a new Dax could have popped up for just a guest spot or two.

I will take the "The Expanse". It shows us Earth and humanity after so devastating attack and I am thinking about how we will stand after Sars-Cov-2. Crew stays together. :bolian:

I will save "Endgame", for being Trek's best demonstration of why you don't screw around with the timeline. The future erased by Janeway in this episode seems WAY better overall for it's inhabitants than the circumstances the characters in "Picard" are currently living thru! You screwed that one up good, Janeway!

*Though of course, the "Picard" future is better for the audience, I wouldn't swap the show we're currently getting for anything.

I agree. I love Picard because everything has gone to hell., and it's great seeing Patrick Stewart dealing with it week in week out. :techman:

I'll save DIS's Such Sweet Sorrow, Part II, as it was mesmerizing. I'm not saying everything completely made sense, but season two really ended with a bang.

I particularly loved the visuals of Burham visiting all the places the RA had visited that year.

"SHADOWS OF P'JEM" is my next save. Some good Archer/T'Pol scenes, and it's always a treat to see Shran. (Or anything Jeffrey Combs does, for that matter.)

I will save "Will You Take My Hand?", for having Earth scenes with actual RAIN. For possibly the first time in Star Trek history? I can't think of one other exterior location shoot that had proper weather in it...

The reveal that Klingons have two dicks was also quite memorable. I'm seeing Worf/Troi in a whole new light now...

Demons. How is this still on the list? Perhaps it is not as exciting as the follow up, but it is nonetheless a solid setup that feels, dare I say, earthy in how is includes elements familiar to our world.

"Children of Mars"

Just a nice short story of kids' life on Earth while their parents are off-planet. (not too spoilery, but still) Also, I think this is something that should have been shown much more on the older shows.

VOY, Season 2: “Non Sequitur”
VOY, Season 7: “Inside Man”
ENT, Season 2: “Shockwave Part II”

I'm saving Non Sequitur, I liked getting a closer look at 24th century earth and it was a decent Kim focused episode.

VOY, Season 7: “Inside Man”
ENT, Season 2: “Shockwave Part II”

These are two suitably mediocre offerings for the last choice. I feel like I'm leaning towards saving Inside Man, despite this being the 4747th Ferengi hijinks 'comedy' story, and it being a total waste of the characters from the Pathfinder arc. There is a lot of fun seeing the Reg hologram doing impressions of the crew that just makes this the 'winner' in my eyes.

Shockwave, Part II is the loser!

The first part was a pretty good cliffhanger, but this was a very beige follow-up, with the status-quo returning very.

Was this the episode with the gazelle speech as well?

Was this the episode with the gazelle speech as well?

Yep!

I was rooting for "Non Sequitur" -- man do I hate the lazy writing of that alien disguised as the coffee shop guy just appearing to explain the whole thing! -- but "Shockwave Part II" is also terrible, so a very worthy winnerLoser! And I suppose it is true that, though it's problems are NUMEROUS, "Non Sequitur" actually does a fairly good job of showcasing "present day" Earth. And we have our second "Enterprise" episode on the board...

MOST DISLIKED WINNERS, 2020
SEASON PREMIERE: TNG, Season 7: "Descent, Part II"
VISIT TO EARTH'S "PRESENT": ENT, Season 2: "Shockwave, Part II"
VISIT TO EARTH'S PAST: ENT, Season 4: "Storm Front, Part I"

Going up this evening: "The Most Disliked Time Travel/Anomaly/Loop Story". (Hey, and "Shockwave" is on that list too -- will it take two in a row?)

As always, thanks to all the players of this round, and hope to see you all on the next one!
