THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

Eye of the Needle is a great little Will Voyager Get Home? episode. Of course, it was early in the run, so we knew the outcome would be bad, but nevertheless, it holds up. The Romulan Commander here is quite sympathetic.

"Survival Instinct": This episode is amazing. From the humour of the scene where Tom and Harry are being told off for the bar fight (did you win?) to the pain Seven feels when she has to make a decision where there's no right answer and she can't be certain what the former drones wishes are.

I love The Dogs of War, and whilst all of the social reform came a little out of nowhere, Rom being the new Nagus was perfect for the new Ferenginar. "Wow," indeed, Rom.

Vaughn Armstrong was playing one of Damar's men, though didn't his ship blow him up in a Dominion attack? I think his more substantial character bits were When It Rains...

I consider Vox Sola to be a good, if slightly underrated episode. We see a truly alien alien, a good scene with Trip and a despondent Archer, and Travis shows why he's arguably the most competent person (human anyway) on that crew.

I think that Flesh and Blood is one of the better uses of the holodeck, and the Hirogen that VOY did, even if you have to ignore the implausibilities of meeting Hirogran that had holodeck technology that was a gift from the crew over 20000 light-years ago.

The holograms created just to be repeatedly killed in the name of sport, are sympathetic, and I can see why the Doctor would feel to have a lot in common with them, after his stories over the years.

"Past Prologue" is a decent early DS9, and it does mark the introduction of maybe Trek's best recurring character.

I also appreciate it's Garak's gayest on-screen moment. While, except for that bit in "Cardassians" where he surprises Bashir in his bedroom in the middle of the night, and their whole vibe is "not the first time this has happened."

Saving "THE FORGE".

While I was sad to see Forrest killed, he died a hero. And quite probably his sacrifice to save Soval was the turning point in his attitudes toward humans exploring space.

Archer obviously did a great deal for getting the Federation ball rolling, but Admiral Forrest deserves a lot of credit, too.

Basically, he went out like a boss.
