Good call on Meridian. The B-plot with Jeffrey Combs, Quark and Kira was pretty funny, but the actual romance was dire. Dire I tells ya!

Dax decides to up and leave her responsibilities as a host behind, so she can exist in some weird basis where the planet is only there once every 60 years. And all that, just so she can go shack up with the guy with whom she has zero chemistry?

Yeah Meridian was bad. I mean it was basically Space Birgadoon; a stock plot that gets shoehorned into a lot of shows.

About the only thing “Meridian” has going for it is the farewell scene between Jadzia and Sisko which demonstrates what wonderful chemistry the actors had. They really sell their deep friendship. Unfortunately, I found Brett Cullen beyond dull and although Terry Farrell was charming as always, there was zero spark and you had to wonder why on Earth someone with Dax’s wisdom and life experience would be willing to throw her entire life away for some dour bloke she met five minutes ago.
I liked the Quark subplot with Jeff Combs though. Seeing Quark with Kira’s body remains all kinds of...weird.

I was rooting for "Fair Haven", but since that got taken out, "Meridian" makes a satisfactory winner. Nice location work and there's some interest in Jeffrey Combs first Trek appearance. I also love Nana Visitor's performance choices when she "wins" Quark's fake contest. Otherwise, hate everything about it! And also a suitable winner because the romance really is the worst part, so undercooked and textureless. We both love walks in the garden and fresh berries -- I'll give up my entire plane of existence for you! To travel to another plane of existence that lacks gardens and berries.
