Game The Most Disliked 'Hey, This Planet Is Just Like Earth!' Episode

Sakonna

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked. :bolian:

THE RULES
: Below is a list of alternate Earth episodes from TOS, TNG, VOY, ENT, and DIS.

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns. Leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

New players are always welcome, you do not have to already be a "most disliked game" regular to dive in.

Much thanks to @Farscape One for helping me vet the list!

Enjoy!

Looking for a bad episode of Trek about an Earth-like planet? I'd advise youse to keep dialin', Oxmyx. I'm saving one of the great Trek comedies, "A Piece of the Action."

Saving my most beloved guilty pleasure episode of the franchise, "Sub Rosa." It's a top TNG.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Patterns Of Force”

TNG, Season 2: “The Royale”
VOY, Season 5: “In The Flesh”
ENT, Season 3: “North Star”
DIS, Season 2: “New Eden

DIS: “New Eden" is an easy first save for me as I'm a big fan of Anson Mount's Pike :adore:, and I loved that Owo got some time in the spotlight.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Patterns Of Force”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”

TOS, Season 3: “Spectre Of The Gun”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”
TNG, Season 2: “The Royale”
VOY, Season 5: “In The Flesh”
ENT, Season 3: “North Star”

I'll go with VOY's in The Flesh. The teaser is particularly creepy, with an essence of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I quite liked the idea of Species 8472 being terrified of the nanoprobe weapons the crew made back in Scorpion.

Making peace with the enemy is a classic Trek staple as well, even if it's a shame we didn't see 8472 again.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Patterns Of Force”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “The Paradise Syndrome”
TOS, Season 3: “Spectre Of The Gun”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”
TNG, Season 2: “The Royale"
ENT, Season 3: “North Star”

I don't care what anyone sez..."Spectre of the Gun" was awesome, and one of the most immediately recognizable episodes of the entire franchise, due to it's bizarre and unique style.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Patterns Of Force”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “The Paradise Syndrome”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”
TNG, Season 2: “The Royale"
ENT, Season 3: “North Star”

Short list.

Funnily I just watched The Royale today and despite some glaring flaws I found it be inventive and lively so I'm voting for that.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Patterns Of Force”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “The Paradise Syndrome”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”
ENT, Season 3: “North Star”

I'm not a fan of Westerns but I'm saving ENT: “North Star” for Tucker and T'Pol on a horse, and Malcolm stunning T'Pol first so he could then stun her captor!

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Patterns Of Force”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “The Paradise Syndrome”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”

Spectre of The Gun would have been my next choice, they did a great job working with the budget restrictions with sets, and the story is great too.

I'll go with Patterns of Force instead. I just enjoy it anytime I watch, and think it's one of the first few episodes of TOS I ever saw.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Catspaw”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “The Paradise Syndrome”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”

I'm surprised how short this list is.

Saving "Catspaw". It's fun and I like that they did a halloween episode.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 1: “The Squire Of Gothos”
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “The Paradise Syndrome”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”

The Paradise Syndrome is the ultimate romance of the Week, with Kirk being married, and then losing Miramanee. Obviously, this kind of thing can only happen in Kirk's world because he lost his identity,

The episode also takes place over a large time period, which always feels different. It felt bigger, somehow.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 2: “Who Mourns For Adonais?”
TOS, Season 2: “Bread And Circuses”
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”

I just watched "Miri" the other night....and I don't like it. I never have. It's weird and creepy and not in a good way. The "attraction" between Kirk and Miri felt icky even when I was a pre-teen. "Bread and Circuses" on the other hand is ridiculous, but also massively entertaining from start to finish.

TOS, Season 1: "Miri"
TOS, Season 3: “Plato’s Stepchildren”
