Game The Most Disliked Family Episode

I'm not sure if I should do this, but I'm going to save "The Girl Who Made The Stars", despite having never seen it (because I don't live in North America). What I have done, however, is looked at about a million screencaps of this lovely little short, seen a clip, and read the Memory Alpha article a few times.
I'm saving it because it's different - this 3D animated style, the fact that the story is more of a myth/legend than usual Trek fare, and the beautiful imagery are enough for me (especially the alien being). I can't wait to actually watch this Short Trek :luvlove:

TNG Season 7: “Homeward”
TNG Season 7: “Bloodlines”
DS9 Season 6: “Profit And Lace”
VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
ENT Season 4: "Demons"
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Light And Shadows”
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “Runaway”
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

I had to look this one up in my Funk'n'Wagnalls...

DS9 Season 6: “Profit And Lace”

Say what you like about the story, Cecila Adams still socks it to ya as Ishka.

Henry Gibson is Nilva - I was expecting a bit more due to his comedic background (despite playing a Nazi in 1976's Wonder Woman) but as far as stunt casting goes, it doesn't get much better than this.

The episode is light years better than "Threshold", which is amazing considering "Threshold" is a harder-edged sci-fi story.

What's left:
TNG Season 7: “Homeward”
TNG Season 7: “Bloodlines”
VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
ENT Season 4: "Demons"
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Light And Shadows”
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “Runaway”
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

Even if it fails, I always appreciate an episode with a gonzo random premise, and “Bloodlines” is certainly that.

TNG Season 7: “Homeward”
VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
ENT Season 4: "Demons"
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Light And Shadows”
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “Runaway”
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

"DEMONS" is the best of what's left, so that is my next save.

In fact, there's only one other episode I would save. The rest, I can't do it.

TNG Season 7: “Homeward”
VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Light And Shadows”
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “Runaway”
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

It's like.,.. an insurrection!

TNG Season 7: “Homeward”

The episode delves into the dried up well of "Let's explore the prime directive - again!!" but at least it's the first (and better) time they try it on such a grand(iose) scale. Gotta give TNG season 7 props for trying to churn out epic after EPIC after EPIC after EPIC after EPIC!

...TNG Burnout notwithstanding, what with the 1996 film Insurrection using this episode as inspiration and I wonder if the TV episode version should have been shelved and something else in its place but that still wouldn't stop INS from being a bigger burnout mess in other ways... and as an episode it's not too terribly traumatic, just a mishmash.

What's left:
VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Light And Shadows”
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “Runaway”
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

"Light And Shadows" is OK. Very committed performances from everyone. This is such a great cast, and a great cast can cover a myriad of other flaws.

VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “Runaway”
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

I'll go for Runaway. I love Tilly and I just love how she becomes besties with that leader (forgot her name though). I also like how it ties in with S2 of DIS, and the finale in particular.

VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 1: "What's Past Is Prologue"
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

I know straight away what the last one will be xD
Saving VOY Season 2: “Tattoo”
I LOVED every episode Kolopak was featured in, showing some "grass roots" Chakotay was very interesting too. The episode as a whole was very well put together, and the underlying issues with Chakotay as a young man, with no interest in his tribe to and adult Chakotay now taking a firm belief.

It's an EXTRAORDINARILY disappointing wrap up that lets the viewer down in multiple crucial ways, but I do still feel positive overall towards Disco's MU arc, so "What's Past Is Prologue" is saved.

ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 2: “Perpetual Infinity”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

Perpetual Infinity is an episode I want to like more, but it's just a bit of a mess.

Sonia John appearing in the franchise is awesome enough by itself, so her being Burnham's mother is a genuinely cool moment. It's just a shame that, by this point, the whole Red Angel arc was beginning to buckle under its own weight. More's the pity, as the first two thirds of S2, it was so intriguing.

ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”`
ST Season 1: “The Brightest Star”

Saving "THE BRIGHTEST STAR".

I liked the view into Saru's background. Definitely far better than the other 2 left... though I have a strong suspicion which will 'win'.

ENT Season 2: “Horizon”
DIS Season 2: “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1”

I MUST save "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1", which I don't really like at all but is the new usual (a season-long serialized story collapsing into fractured incoherence at the finish line), but I think "Horizon" is HEINOUS and truly one of the worst Trek episodes ever made, and I've been rooting for it since the beginning. So "Horizon" is our winner!

For the life of me I cannot understand why they thought Anthony Montgomery could handle such a heavy, dramatic script. In two seasons he couldn't manage to deliver one routine easy line convincingly, and someone thought he could carry an entire hour and portray something as emotional and intense as coping with the death of his father? Give me a break.

From the minute I first saw "Horizon" a year or two ago, I was baffled that it wasn't always discussed alongside the worst of the worst. It belongs in that pantheon of "Spock's Brain" and "Code Of Honor" and "Profit & Lace" and "Threshold" and "TATV", all the lowest of the low. So, thrilled to be able to add it to our growing list of most-disliked lowlights. :bolian:

I'll be back later tonight or tomorrow to post the full winner's list, and I'll have the next game up in a day or two as well...
