The MOST Disliked Episode of TNG - Season Four...

Farscape One

Admiral

This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am very curious to see the results.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, wait six hours and leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I will start things off by saving "Data's Day". I loved the whole 'day in the life' look at life on the Enterprise, and seeing it through Data's eyes was a real treat. And we get a nice nod to the original series when Picard exactly recites the ceremony that Kirk performed in "BALANCE OF TERROR". Interesting coincidence that both stories dealt with Romulans...

The Drumhead is safe. So many good ones to save, but The Drumhead still stands out.

The Best of Both Worlds, Part II. Sure, it's not quite up there with the first half, but trying to actually dislike it? That's just futile.

Ordering "Brothers" to leave the list. Watching Spiner play three characters was fun. We (and Data) get to meet the greatest mind in cybernetics and learn more of his and Lore's backstory. It's too bad Lore wasn't used more throughout the series; He really was a fun character. Back to the episode, the B-plot with some kid that we'd never see again being poisoned or infected was weak and really didn't need to be there, but it's still a great episode from a season of great episodes.

Protecting "Family" (as a mom should ;)), because this marked the first time we ever saw consequences from a traumatic event like Picard's assimilation. Also for a stunning depiction of same by Patrick Stewart. Though honestly, I would have saved the episode even if the only virtue it had was the introduction of Worf's adorable adoptive parents.

"Remember Me." I was torn between that and "Clues", which I think craft-wise is a slightly "better" episode, but ultimately I just like "Remember Me" more. I always enjoy the Twilight-Zone-y episodes, and it's the best Bev showcase of the series.

So many good ones left! I'll save Reunion, one of my favorite Worf episodes. I hate that we lost K'Ehleyr after just two appearances, but she was well used in this episode, and it fuels Worf's story into Redemption very well.

Future Imperfect. A real interesting twist on the old time-travel story. Plus it foreshadowed what would happen in Deep Space Nine with Nog.

A number remain, but Qpid is removed from the chopping block because there is no such thing as a bad Q story and the fun by the cast is also shared by a lot of the audience.

And it also sets up the DS9 episode "Q-Less", which - while not perfect - gets to do things with Q that could never be done on TNG.

What's left:

Final Mission
The Loss
The Wounded
Clues

Galaxy's Child

Well, I'll save "Clues" now! Such a fantastic episode. I love the mystery, it's very engrossing. Good Data story. Cool Possessed!Troi!Voice!. I have nothing bad to say about it.

I also enjoy the symmetry of getting to save the Dixon Hill trifecta... I saved "Big Goodbye" in season 1 and "Manhunt" in season 2. :bolian:

I will save “Half a Life”. It’s an interesting episode to discuss because of the moral dilemma that the Kaelon present with their treatment of the elderly (or near elderly). The Lwaxana character was played a bit more seriously which started a redemption of what had been at that point a very shallow character. But most of all, the performance of David Ogden Stiers as Timicin stands as one of the very best guest spots in Trek history.

I’ll save “The Mind’s Eye”. I really liked the Romulans’ using Geordi’s visor against him. The Klingon governor was an interesting one-and-done character, as well.

I'll aid "The Wounded." A wonderful, gripping showcase for O'Brien, with a strong guest star and a solid plot. And I loved the coda, where Picard reveals that the Federation is not quite as unaware of the Cardassians' rearmament as the Cardassians would like to think, and that a part of what restrained him (Picard) and the Federation was, not idealism or naivete, but pragmatism.

I'm gonna take out First Contact. They could have done the story a little better, but I do love seeing that twist of the 'alien visitors' storyline.
