The Most Disliked Episode of DS9 - Final Round...

Side note: I just noticed as I was updating the 2019 'Winner' that the three times this game has been done, it was a different episode each time. And it was the final three this year.

That is interesting, but at the same time not entirely surprising. I think by most reasonable metrics, those three episodes are the weakest DS9 had to offer for various reasons, and two of the three are aging badly due to shifts in cultural values and norms. It's one reason I like doing rewatches of various series I've liked through the years, seeing what (beyond outdated technology or effects) ages well and what doesn't, at all.

Editing to say thanks for posting the game. It was fun and interesting to hear everyone's reasoning for their choices.

My personal choice for worst ever would be Field of Fire.

Besides the directing is cliche, besides the setup is immensely contrived. I think “The pictures are smiling, the killer must be a Vulcan!!” is the single dumbest moment in Trek history.

I have trouble thinking of episodes I hate more than this final three -- maybe "The Storyteller" and "Paradise." But it's true, there really isn't any DS9 ep that doesn't have some little glimmer of something to it. A satisfying winner for me! And I always enjoy when it's new winners...

That's actually the little something I love about that episode -- I laugh my head off at that bit everytime. So stupid.

And it also brushes against the actually good idea buried within "Field Of Fire", the trauma of the war being so extreme that it's even fucking up the Vulcans. Wish they'd found some way to actually bring that out and explore it more! Which you'd think would have been possible, via COUNSELOR Ezri and all...
