Game The Most Disliked Episode/Movie Directed By Jonathan Frakes

I started editing my post with a new choice and must have been distracted. Nothing to see here. :D ;)

So I'll go with People of Earth from DIS. I love how in the 32nd Century, Earth is no longer a part of the Federation, so that hit home the task that Burnham and co. would have to piece the Federation together again. Also, the nod to United Earth was a nice touch.

TNG Season 7: "Attached"
DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
VOY Season 2: "Parturition"
DIS Season 1: "Despite Yourself"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons forthis ep]
PIC Season 1: "Absolute Candor"
PIC Season 2: "Fly Me To The Moon"[spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]
PIC Season 2: "Two Of One" [spoilertag elimination reasons forthis ep]

Saving "Absolute Candor".

It was a nice look into a part of Romulan society.

TNG Season 7: "Attached"
DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
VOY Season 2: "Parturition"
DIS Season 1: "Despite Yourself"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons forthis ep]
PIC Season 2: "Fly Me To The Moon"[spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]
PIC Season 2: "Two Of One" [spoilertag elimination reasons forthis ep]

I am going to save the newest episode on this list, "Two Of One", primarily on the strength of that INCREDIBLE
Jurati singing sequence. I can not get it out of my head, her rendition has been playing in a loop in my mind for 36-ish hours now. The only problem is that it wasn't longer!

I also thought all the Borg Queen stuff in this one was particularly well-directed. Jurati's bow where the Queen appears as they come back up. The reveal of the Queen in her reflection in the dark glass table. So good.

TNG Season 7: "Attached"
DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
VOY Season 2: "Parturition"
DIS Season 1: "Despite Yourself"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons forthis ep]
PIC Season 2: "Fly Me To The Moon"[spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]

First save: "Sub Rosa." Daaaaaaaaaamn do I love this ep. Endlessly satisfies. I've seen it nearly as many times as "Yesterday's Enterprise."

I think people once thought I was joking or just being contrarian when I raved about this ep, but I think I've been at it long enough now that everyone is convinced my love is real. :luvlove:
- Ha! Just like me and "Precious Cargo" :rommie:

There's not a lot left that I remember/have seen now, so I'm going with the only one I do like TNG: "Attached" - and only because of the interplay between Crusher and Picard (and that outtake when they scramble down the hillside and Gates treads on Sir Patrick's foot!)

DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
VOY Season 2: "Parturition"
DIS Season 1: "Despite Yourself"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons forthis ep]
PIC Season 2: "Fly Me To The Moon"[spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]

Regarding "Two of One", let me say something that is not spoilery. While the directing was first rate, the episode was too damned short. With the end credits, theme, and lengthy recap, only 38 minutes long? There is no excuse for a streaming series to have episodes shorter than a broadcast tv show.

My final vote for this game is "PARTURITION". It ended the Neelix jealousy arc, and it began Tom and Neelix's friendship, which was a good one.

I am calling that my last vote because all the rest are either too short, I can't remember them because they blur too much into other episodes with this supreme arc heavy era, or is a lifeless Dax romance.

DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
DIS Season 1: "Despite Yourself"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons forthis ep]
PIC Season 2: "Fly Me To The Moon"[spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]

Despite Yourself starts off the MU arc in season one of DIS, and it's probably the most interesting part of the season.

DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]
PIC Season 2: "Fly Me To The Moon"[spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]

Agreed! Also the pace of that episode was ridiculously rushed, I can think of 15 scenes it would have been great to have in there. The writers need to write more.

But I'm still enjoying Picard season 2, flaws and all, so I'll now also save "Fly Me To The Moon."

DS9 Season 3: "Meridian"
DIS Season 3: "The Sanctuary"
DIS Season 3: "There Is A Tide..."
DIS Season 4: "Stormy Weather" [spoiler tag elimination reasons for this ep]

During my casting career, was I EXCITED when I got to audition the actress who played Felisa Howard (which ended up being shortly before her death). I kept thinking -- damn, this woman was playing a corpse when I was a child, and here I am years into my adult career, and she's still at it!

It's very well acted. I think it's unintentionally hilarious.

Blimey! He directed way more than I thought...

I'm going to save Star Trek: Insurrection. Many don't like it and I understand why, but I have a lot of time for it.

I love "Insurrection" - even though if you write a summary of the story, it doesn't sound that great, there's just something about it that means it's really enjoyable.

With DISCO and PICARD, Frakes is the only person to direct episodes from FIVE different shows. And he paved the way for so many Berman era actors to direct, many of whom were excellent. A wonderful legacy.

Totally agree!

I'm not going to vote for any more this round - the only one left that I've seen is Meridian and it's not great.

Hmm, these are both average episodes, but I'll vote to save Stormy Weather.

I think Species 10-C was a mostly well-handled adversary, even if the last portion of the season proved that there should have been a shorter season.

Stormy Weather had the crew trying to escape a rift using sonar, and Zora is starting to emerge as a character, with help from Gray.

It's easily better than boring Osyraa's takeover of the ship at the end of season 3.

There Is A Tide wins.

I like season 3 of Discovery, but "There Is A Tide..." is certainly one of the more disappointing installments.

"There Is A Tide..." had not yet aired when we played the 2020 version of this game. The winner then was "Star Trek: Insurrection."

Thanks for playing all. Next list will go up Tuesday or Wednesday: "The Most Disliked Trek Noir" Hope to see you all there!
