Game The Most Disliked Episode Directed By Les Landau

Image in the Sand was a good season opener, even if it was a little quieter than S6. Sisko family interactions are always good to see, as was O'Brien taking the time to find out why Worf was struggling with Jadzia's death. He wasn't alone. ;)

The cliffhanger with Ezri was nicely done as well.

TNG Season 7: "Bloodlines"
DS9 Season 2: "Sanctuary"
DS9 Season 3: "Destiny"
DS9 Season 7: "Afterimage"

VOY Season 6: "Virtuoso"
Not my favorite episode, but it's one of two left that I've seen. I suppose it's a good example of what not to do with the EMH.

TNG Season 7: "Bloodlines"
DS9 Season 2: "Sanctuary"
DS9 Season 3: "Destiny"
VOY Season 2: "Investigations"

I will save “Sanctuary”, which I basically like. The problem with it is that they don’t quite set the stakes correctly — It’s too easy for the Skreeans to go elsewhere, in a way that is unlike the circumstances of real refugees in our real world, so it throws off the metaphor and the plot logic. They needed something to increase the moral obligation on the Bajorans (ie the Skreeans can only survive long term in a system with Rare Technobabble Energy Fields, which the Bajoran system has because of the wormhole, so if they’re not allowed to stay they may have to wander indefinitely)

But I love many things about this episode. A MATRIARCHAL ALIEN SPECIES, with an interesting visual design. The universal translator having difficulties for once. More clever Dominion foreshadowing. Good use of Jake & Nog within the main story. The dynamic between Kira and the Skreean leader.

And THAT LAST SCENE I find properly incredible. What a gut punch.

Oh, a final three with one each from the three main Berman shows — suspense!

TNG Season 7: "Bloodlines"
DS9 Season 3: "Destiny"
VOY Season 2: "Investigations"

I was really hoping for "Investigations" to take our second double-win for this round of games! I just can't stand that one. Ah well! "Bloodlines" is no great shakes either, I recently tried to rewatch that one and it didn't even hold my interest. It's an episode with no reason to exist.

Thanks everyone for playing! Going up later today: "The Most Disliked Episode Directed By Allan Kroeker." Hope to see you all there!
