THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked. :bolian:

THE RULES: Below is a list of the 4th season episodes of TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and DIS.

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns. Leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

Wow, lots of really good episodes. I thought the last list was big. :cardie:

The Quickening is one of those episodes that I appreciate more with each rewatch. Rene Auberjonois was really on point as director in this, making lots of great visual choices throughout to make scenes pop.

The look of the disease was pretty horrific, particularly when it turned red in the latter stages.

Bashir was very arrogant thinking he was going to swan in and cure the village and save the day, so it was good to see him have to come down a peg or two in his own estimations when things start going wrong.

It's questionable whether having Klingons appear on DS9 would have worked as well as their original plan for the S3 cliffhanger with Homefront/Paradise Lost. Or, at least in terms of the ongoing Changeling paranoia story.

However, The Way of the Warrior was epic! It was a great way to bring Worf over to DS9. and a good callback to his TNG arc about losing his family's honor. The production effects really went up a notch, and seeing DS9 under attack was awesome. Another great one to rewatch.

Wow this is going to be tough....

I have a huge affection for TNG: "The Wounded," so I'm saving that one. I actually think it deals in similar themes as Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, but maybe in an even more effective and personal way. Great story about prejudice, forgiveness, etc...and also a very tense "Hunt for Red October" packaging. Great stuff.

From the concept being truly creepy, through Janeway slamming that alien lady scientists into the bulkhead, to the crazed captain flying Voyager between two binary pulsars, so much to love here. In fact, Janeway flying between those pulsars is one of my favorite Voyager moments.

I love TNG: "First Contact" for many reasons: that it shows the contactee's view/perspective, the somewhat creepy beam-down, Mirasta Yale's glee at meeting aliens and seeing their spaceship (Carolyn Seymour is just awesome!), Lanel wanting to boink Riker because he's an alien, Troi doing her 'first contact specialist' thing (if only briefly), and so many others! :adore:

I'll next save "The Gift." Perfectly twinned storylines. It can be hard to see past the grossness of Jennifer Lien being fired for not being hot enough, but if I can block out all the behind-the-scenes vulgarity, the episode is a stunning piece of work and everyone acts the hell out of it.
