A surprisingly enjoyable B-Movie, I picked it up after seeing a recommendation on one of the extras for Forbidden Planet. Giant rocks grow, crack and tumble, whereupon their fragments grow up again into giant rocks.
Rinse and repeat (literally in the film) and the inhabitants of a little desert town find themselves facing a tidal wave of rocks. No outstanding acting (although everyone seems a little less wooden than you might expect, except those turned into stone
) other than William Schallert's very helpful weatherman.
The effects are nicely done too, giving the rocks a nice sense of scale and menace. You really do feel like they're dwarfing the natural landscape around them.
Anyone else caught this?
