The LSATs

The strange thing is that there is no tier 2. Go figure. The top 100 law schools are tier 1, 101-150 are tier 3, and 151 and below are tier 4.

I personally think the rankings for law schools are stupid, but it sadly makes a difference in career prospects for people who either want to work for the big firms or who want to go into academia.

Ah, the advantage of living in the "sticks." I went to the local CA-accredited but not ABA-accredited law school. If one stays local, one can have a full out career. Many of the local judges are graduates.

Btw, still waiting to hear Bar results. November 20 is coming closer.

There are different qualities of tier one schools. My goal would have gotten me into a top 15 school, now I'm looking at top 50. But, yeah, it's not bad. I'm happy with my score and it's certainly better than going through the hell of taking it again.

Dude, I'm really proud of you and you've done a fantastic job. I hope the places you're applying to recognize what a smart guy you are. If I can ever help with anything (essays or the like) let me know. I looked over my sister's essays for her and she ended up getting into U of C, so I'd like to I helped a little!

And no, I didn't write them for her. :p

If you can send me some kind of device that gives me an electric shock every time I put off law school applications, that would be great. Procrastination has always been my biggest enemy.

Seriously, though, thanks. I'll keep that in mind :)

Congratulations on your LSAT results.

I almost took the LSATs, but I ended up using my GMAT scores (taken prior to my junior year of undergrad) to get into the MSA accounting program at Bentley.

So, I've traded the LSATs and bar exam in for the (already taken GMAT) and CPA exam (probably Fall 2011). I might still get a law degree down the road (with some sort of business emphasis), but I hear the LSAT might not be required if I already have a graduate degree. That's a long ways off, though. The MBA would probably make more sense anyway, though my GMAT scores will be long out of date by then...

That would help.

Yesterday I was wearing a shirt I got from Minnesota and got an e-mail inviting me to apply to law school out there. Today I'm wearing a Penn shirt to see if I can repeat my luck :D

Congratulations on your LSAT score! We've talked before, but I got a lower score than you and still managed to get into one school at least. So you should be feeling pretty good about your chances of getting in where you want to go.

I don't know how you feel about Seattle, but both law schools in the area are pretty good. Seattle University (my school) has one of the top ranked writing programs, and University of Washington is just highly ranked in general. I applied to those two schools around the end of November and the other schools around the end of December. I'd suggest applying earlier if possible. Some schools start making decisions before the deadline.

I'm only part way through 1L and frankly I'm at the point where school's gotten a bit...depressing? oppressing? If you have any questions feel free to PM me as well.
