The least disliked episode of TNG - Season Seven

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that was played here a couple of years ago, and it proved to be a lot of fun, spanning across each Trek series, as well as a great way to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode. Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Sub Rosa.

I can forgive episodes that come off the general scifi genre boundaries, if they do a good job with them. This is like they took some second rate Victorian novel and tacked on an alien creature to make it okay to do in Star Trek.

I remove all good things, I think it's a rather overrated episode and there are better here.

That's a matter of claim. In all of TNG sure, but season 7 was... kinda weak. But someone's been chopping off a popular episode right off the bat in all these. Anyways... Masks get the chop for me. This is just embarrassing to watch with others.

Exactly, that's the point of the game. In my opinion I thought it was a poor episode.

Force of Nature. An episode that threatened to destroy Star Trek as we know and love it. Thankfully, any possible repercussions from this epsiode were quickly glossed over.

Taking out Bloodlines. We didn't need to see that Damon guy again and Picard having to deal with a problem child already happened in Season 4's worst episode, Suddenly Human.

Along same lines of surprise children I'll eliminate "Dark Page", a secret suppressed daughter that no one knows about is now giving Lwaxana a telepathic aneurysm... Nope.

Taking out Homeward for contributing to the TNG writers' perverse warping of the prime directive.

I thought you were supposed to take out the episode you thought was the worst, not the episode you dislike that you were most concerned might win.

I mean, since we're all about pulling technicalities in these games. :)

Well that's why I hope we do a hurt/heal after this. More interesting results, you can be completely transparent with your motives and no one person can make or break any one episode. ;)

But to this game... Emergence. Holodeck episode that makes no sense.

JP, you put Dark Page back in.

I'm taking out Interface. Geordi is best as a supporting character acting as a soundboard for the others. He's awkward to watch on his own.

Stuck 'em together

It's a close call between liasons, Pegasus and journeys end. I'm taking out Liasons though. The Pegasus is saved by USS Crazy Horse (best starship name ever) and Captain Picard Day. Journeys end is saved because Wesley is thrown out of the series. And the best quote ever by Beverly: 'Make sure to dress warmly on those other planes or existence'. Liasons I found tedious and unbelievable and it was just a cop out to go 'oh yeah we were just checking out your different emotions and stuff which we think is fine so deal with it'

Sorry:

Thine Own Self. It never felt like a gripping tale. Data's plot was fairly pedestrian, and Troi's plot was interesting for the character development, but nothing to make the episode stand out.

I'll get rid of Descent, Part 2. It's not a very inspiring episode, with Beverly left in command in a very contrived scenario. The reappearance of Lore is ill thought out too.

TNG was starting to go downhill this season so I'll eliminate "Firstborn". Yet another time travel story.

I hate Gambit. Hate it. Picard and Riker pretending to hate each other which they wait around as the ship travels from planet to planet. Yawwwwwn. I'd eliminate both at once if I could, but I'll leave Part II for later (if it's still there). ;)

I'm not saying which 2 I hope make it to final 3 because I'm afraid they'll get kicked out just to spite me. The rest I don't care if they get kicked.

Now my choice.
I hereby kick to the curb...The Pegasus. I just hate it. If I listed all the reasons, it'd be half of one page of this thread.

^You didn't remove Pegasus from the list, btw.

AGT, Lower Decks, Pegasus gone? If Genesis wins, I'm going to mutiny.
