The least disliked episode of STE - season two

It seems IronMaiden didn't notice Season 1's least disliked episode thread had a winner. So here is Season 2. Yes, the Mediocre season. But it does have some very good episodes in there!

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

I don't know where to start. I'll just start at the beginning - Shockwave was a shocking (yes I went there) conclusion to part one, and of course the real kick in the teeth was the dumb speech at the end.

I DO know where to start. Precious Cargo! Really, it was probably one of my least favorite of the entire series. The acting, especially by the guest star, was awful! And I'm generally not a big critic of "acting". And the sexual innuendos were awful. And Trip's encounter with the princess was awful. He is NOT Kirk! I like Trip so much better!

Did I mention, this episode was AWFUL!?

I found Canamar really dull and derivative so I have agree with that one.

I can't believe I didn't go for the awful A Night in Sickbay first now I think about it. An insult to the characters in it, and to comedy, and to the poor viewers subjected to it. I don't mean to be dramatic but character assassination abounds.

As much as I liked Hoshi and know we need character development of secondary characters, I really had a hard time sitting through Vanishing Point on my second pass through season 2. Not the worst, but of the ones that were left its my choice. I think the aliens makeup topped it, aside from the story line. Heck, even my 9 year old daughter said pass on this one.

To be fair I can only think of seven or eight that I really did like. There's a lot of Meh this year.

Thanks! That reminds me how Meh The Seventh was! I always thought this episode was a waste of a good guest actor. A confusing story about yet another non-Vulcan-acting Vulcan who is not as mysterious as we are led to believe. Move along, nothing to see here...

Looking at the remaining episodes, most of the good ones are in the second half of the season. S2 definitely got it's bad reputation from the first half. So many dull, mediocre episodes in there.

As much as I love Malcolm, I'm going to have to remove The Communicator. Because a communicator could damage their civilization, we have our heroes return to the surface,get captured, thus causing a bigger issue and more questions. And, they are willing to go to the gallows to protect that secret (leaving ALL their tech behind anyway) oh, Then enter the "Calvary" to rescue them in an invisible ship , thus causing even more chaos - accomplishing nothing except to raise BIG questions for the native military.
It was all pretty silly.

But at any rate, I hated Bounty, and that would have bee my next choice anyway! so, I'm going to remove Dawn, because Trip vs Alien , trying to communicate, just didn't do it for me. Plus, he got to reminisce about his "night with a princess." Gag me.

My apologies! So sorry! My brain got confused with "Bounty" and "Bound"..both equally cringeworthy to me! (I'm not sure how my brain could get confused between a season 2 and season 4 ep). I still agree. You were right to toss it...because I about tossed SOMETHING during the Pon Farr scenes!

Looks like there really are only 3 Enterprise fans on this forum who remember season 2.
I will remove The Catwalk. Pretty average and unoriginal episode. It reminded me too much of TNG's Starship Mine and Voyager did the Let's retake the Ship on more than one occasion as well.

Honestly, season 2 was just mostly mediocre
The problem is, in the first two seasons ENT had a handfull of good and bad episode. But almost everything else was just kind of bland.

I would remove The Crossing. It had very nice visuals, but it didn't add anything new or interesting to the "bodies taken over by alien lifeforms"-plot.

And I remember really being off-put with the resolution to the episode being Kill'em all! I mean, sure, the aliens did evil things. But I remember it being a point made in the episode, that the aliens needed new bodies to survive. So they weren't necessarely evil, for them it was just a "us or them"-situation. And not helping a defeated, but endangered villain in the end seemed very un-Trek.

I'm going to remove Carbon Creek. Honestly, I would have rather they done a focus episode on one of the actual crew than to have to watch a stand alone ep about one of T'Pol's ancestors. The highlight of the episode for me was the character of Mistral. I wondered whatever became of him....the rest of the ep was bland.

I'm having to look at episode descriptions for some of these though as I can't remember them. I at least watched season one twice, or three times with a few episodes. I just never had the urge to rewatch the majority of season two.
