The least disliked episode of DS9 - season two

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral

This is a game that we play every two years, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Melora and Second Sight are both equally dreadful as "love" stories, but Melora wins because it has that stupid Bashir line: "You let me fly for the first time." A Starfleet officer never experienced Zero-G in training? Really? Be Gone, Abomination:

This is a strong season. I'll vote out Playing God. I didn't like the A plot or the B plot. It would have been Rivals but the B plot of that episode is entertaining.

Rivals is a bit of a pointless episode so that can go. Bashir in a tight costume is nice but the rest is very forgettable.

Goodbye, Invasive Procedures: another pointless episode in which Dax has no reason to live and Terry Farrell can't find any motivation. To make it worse, the new host makes no imprint on the symbiot in future episodes.

I'm taking out The Alternate. It was a weak proto-changling storyline for Odo, not fantastic. We did meet Dr. Pol for the first time, but a bit of a letdown as a whole.

I never particularly enjoyed The Maquis. I'd take out both parts if I could put I'll opt for Part 2 since the first part is mildly more interesting.

I'll take out Shadowplay. An okay-ish episode in the swath of middle-of-the-ground episodes in the middle of the season.

I agree with Terok Nor, Maquis Parts 1 & 2 were really meh. I'll finish the job and take out Maquis Part I. I haven't watched it in awhile but I always remember feeling it should have been better than it was. The acting on the part of most of the Maquis was really hammy. Only good parts of this two parter was Quark and Dukat.

I'll take out Armageddon Game. I'm a fan of the O'Brian/Bashir friendship and I thought the premise was interesting but this episode has always bored me.

Sanctuary to go next. Again an ok-ish story but a lot of better ones are still left.

Next to go is Paradise. Interesting premise, that woman Alexis made me want to punch my TV screen. Overall an OK episode.

Eliminating Crossover as it is not only stupid, it is to blame for five other even stupider episodes.

The Circle
The Seige

Profit and Loss is the next for me. As Quark episodes go I prefered Rules of Acquisition this season.

Necessary Evil
Whispers
Blood Oath
The Wire

I'm taking out Rules of Acquisition, it was an ok episode. It did give us our first hint at the Dominion, and more insight into Ferengi Culture but its not enough to save it from the Dosi. What an annoying species!

The Homecoming
The Circle

Cardassians
Rules of Acquisition

I'm taking out Blood Oath. It's a foretaste of things to come (including Action Barbie!), but the plot is somewhat contrived.

The Homecoming
The Circle
The Siege
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Whispers
The Wire
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

ETA: I also took out Rules of Acquisition, as per boldlygoing's choice.

The Siege. This story did not need 3 parts and this part was not particularly engaging. I don't think Li Nalas was ever mentioned again and he became wallpaper by the 3rd part anyway so I was left wondering what the point of it all was.

The Homecoming
The Circle
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Whispers

Struggling now. This was such a strong season, or at least it was if you ignore the dull patch in the middle.

I'll go for Whispers. An episode that I love a lot, but loses something upon rewatch when you know that O'Brien is a clone.

The Homecoming
The Circle
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
The Wire
The Collaborator
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

EDIT: I'll stick The Collaborator back in as it disappeared of the list at some point but was never actually voted off.

Ill do the honors and take out The Collaborator. It's an ok episode, probably the best of Vedek Bariel, but he was super boring along with most of Kira's boyfriends.
