The Least Disliked Episode 2023 - TAS Season One

BlueStuff

Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now with more shows than ever. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favourite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy!

Once Upon a Planet

Jihad

Removed "Jihad". Boring and unimaginative, and not really very Star Trekish at all.

I found Once Upon a Planet a bit dull, so that's my first vote.

Removing "The Infinite Vulcan." (Sorry, Walter Koenig!) In this case, more Spock is not better.

Taking out "MUDD'S PASSION".

While the character of Mudd is fun to watch on screen, the episode is not the best of the bunch.

I thought that the way Kirk and Spock were made into water breathers in The Ambergris Element, was a cool idea, and one of those things that were brought to life in animation in a way that could be done during TOS. That said, the episode is one of the more dull episodes remaining.

"More Tribbles, More Troubles" is just too derivative of "The Trouble With Tribbles." I was bored watching it as a kid! By all means, if you're gonna steal, steal from the best (and from your own stuff -- that way no one will prosecute!), but try to wipe off the fingerprints a little, mmmkay?

Taking out "THE TERRATIN INCIDENT".

Cool concept with the planet's inhabitants, but not with the crew.

I guess I'm allowed to take another turn. Hum... actually all of these have something that I appreciate, so, well, it's tricky. But I think "The Slaver Weapon". A good episode for Spock/Sulu/Uhura, but I disliked Niven lifting so much from his own work and shoehorning it into Star Trek. I'm sure they were happy to get him as a writer, though.

"The Eye Of The Beholder" is the least special of these. It's so standard-issue in my memory, whereas there is something special about the other 6 of these.

Taking out "THE SURVIVOR".

It's not bad, but it is not as good as the remaining ones.

The Klingon betrayal in "The Time Trap" is rather predictable, with Kor and crew appearing to be baddies just for the sake of it. Also, Kor should properly have the voice of John Colicos, not James Doohan.

Tough choice. I guess One of Our Planets Is Missing isn't quite up there like the other three episodes.

Two are great episodes, and one is the best of TAS, period. (You can probably guess which one I am referring to, given my posts in the past.)

Taking out "THE LORELEI SIGNAL", because the other had an even better story and ship.

I'll remove Beyond the Farthest Star. It's the only possible episode I can vote for... as it's the only one I've seen. :p (bad timing since I was planning to start watching TAS in about a week)

Which is not much of a reason - but both episodes will be in the final round, so it doesn't really matter. Let's get on with season 2.

Yesteryear wins!
