The least disliked episode 2021 - TOS Season Two

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now able to include Disco's third season as well as the debut years of Picard and Lower Decks. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

"The Apple" is ejected. There's no excuse for having subjected the 1967 audience, who'd just been shown "Mirror, Mirror" and were about to be offered "The Doomsday Machine," to such a third-rate piece of garbage. Its only redeeming feature (besides Chekov's girlfriend) is an auditory glimpse of George Duning's "Metamorphosis" music before that episode actually aired.

Bread and Circuses gets the thumbs down from the Emperor. Another silly parallel planet episode.

"Wolf in the Fold" always was one of my least favorites. The Redjack entity is just annoying, and I can't help but giggle hearing the voice actor for Piglet in Winnie the Pooh muttering "Die, die! Everybody die!" And more seance BS in a Trek show? I'm out.

"PATTERNS OF FORCE" is forced off this list.

I never really cared for it, despite the innovative notion of trying to cut out the bad parts of Nazi Germany to create an efficient society. At least it's unique, but it just didn't work.

I don't rate S2 nearly as high as most fans. It's still better than 85% of the franchise....but I actually like S1 and S3 of TOS better.

That said, "Who Mourns for Adonais?" is one of my least-favorite episodes of the entire series....so this is an easy one for me. Very repetitive and boring....it just grates on me. And Scotty acts like an idiot.

"METAMORPHOSIS" leaves the list.

I just never liked this one that much, and it's definitely the weakest of the remainders.

"The Gamesters of Triskelion" is terrible.
Why would disembodied brains be interested in watching humanoids kill each other?
Plus, I always find it ridiculous when supposedly-intellectual-Trek comes down to people punching each other to save the day.
Even Bill Theiss's silver bikini outfit on the girl is sub-par for his usual work.

Removal Time. Amok Time certainly has its iconic moments, and Spock's display of sheer joy at seeing his friend alive is one of the highlights of the series, but T'Pring's plan isn't quite the dazzling display of logic we're led to believe. Oh, and as if T'Pau would participate in the murder of one member of the Federation's elite military by another. Plus, no Scotty and one of the silliest episode titles in Star Trek. Toast Time.

Stella asked me to put I, Mudd into suspended animation. The teaser was great, but the rest of the episode smells really bad.

Mirror, Mirror.

The mirror universe is too obvious and simple in its complete polar opposite of ours. Parallel universe development would probably not be so extremely diverse. The episode is really a focus on our heroes getting home. The only truly believeable character in the mirror universe is Spock. Oh, and that Tantalus Field is just far too simple in my mind.
