Same could be said for a lot of other big box stores, though. Come to think of it, our town mostly has big box stores and less locally owned. Even Canadian chains can't escape being bought out by American ones, with the latest one being Rona (a chain headquartered in Quebec) being bought out by Lowes.

It's still being dealt with, ie it was just announced in the media a few days ago, so hasn't effectively gone through yet, but shareholders from both companies approve of it.

This is part of it, for sure.

IIRC Walmart also sells censored music CDs where swearwords are either cut or replaced...
And they won't sell certain movies or videogames...
At-least i think it's Walmart who does that...
