So I think most of us can agree it was a pretty poor season, the last 3 episodes were great though - if you stopped watching halfway through I'd give it another chance - totally worth it,

I’m confused. Are you saying that the last three episodes already broadcast were great, or the last three episodes of the season, which haven’t been released yet? If it’s the latter, then are you saying you’re some kind of Nostradamus who can see into the future? Because that’s what your thread title implies.

Sorry, 3 good episodes don't make up for the rest of the season.

I thought the season was mostly good, but the 10C plot felt really dragged out in the latter half of the season

Damn, well I guess the 15-20 (fully vaccinated!) people who show up at my place every Wednesday night/Thursday morning, whose thoughts on the season have ranged from "decent with reservations" to "maybe the show's best yet," have been lying to me week after week!

I get what you're going for. The implication that 15-20 is anecdotal and by no means indicative of the million or so viewers the season lured into watching.

And mathematically, you know, there's no way you're wrong! But I have wildly diverse friends with impressively differing tastes, so if you were in my shoes here, you might give it more than a complete dismissal.

Yeah maybe I'm wrong, and like you I'm just going off my own circle/people I see comment on different sites. Just seems that way to me.

I can certainly see why there's ample room to interpret it your way as well. IMDb's base might have a generalized interest in giving Discovery episodes low scores, for example, but they were really low this year, to the point that it has made me wonder if there's more at play there.

Tough to say, is I guess all I'm saying. :P

I was going to watch the season finale this morning, then totally forgot the show existed. Watching Irish dancing on the local news.

Don't blame you really, at several points this year and last I was literally weeks behind - which never would've happened pre 2005.

In my opinion and from what I've seen on twitter there are a fair amount of people obsessed with hating all the new Trek shows without even watching them that I think the scores are artificially lowered by repeated negative reviews by those who don't even watch the show. I have seen several accounts dedicated to how the shows are "garbage", harassing the actors and writers on twitter, saying year after year after that it's cancelled or that Kurtzman has been fired. It's almost like a weird obsession that no doubt has affected some online ratings. I'm just thinking if they spend all their time on twitter obsessively hating the shows despite not watching it's not a stretch that they would bomb imdb and rottentomatoes with negative ratings.

Having watched this season except today's episode. My opinion was this season was its worst.
Some good episodes but alot of bad. I'd say 50/50. The original premise was good but it was drawn out way to much, and the filler wasn't that good. I've never given a 1 or 2 vote before this season but 2 episodes were that bad to me.
Hope they have a more cohesive season next time that has a good premise that isn't strung out.
Wish theyd do like B5 .. Ask a question, answer it in a few episodes, then ask another.. Don't drag out a 3 episode premise/ question to 13..

I really feel like their insistence on having a season long mystery that has to be resolved in the season finale and then resetting and setting up another mystery for the next season is really hurting the show. Why not meet the dma creators halfway through the season and continue from there or have other exploration plots (even serialized) after that?
The tarka arc also didn’t work for me and felt repetitive in the latter half of the season.

In terms of the overall season arc, I felt like the first half of the season (through to ...But To Connect) was mixed, with an equal number of good and mediocre episodes. Then the three-episode block from All In to The Galactic Barrier was boring/filler (like, they could have been almost 100% cut with the season working just as well), and the final three episodes were well done.
