The Kid From A Piece Of The Action

I was watching the episode A Piece Of The Action, last night and wondered about the deal Kirk made with the kid in order to get into one of the gang HQ's. He promised the kid a piece of the action which wound up being the setup of a world government. What piece of that action if any would this kid wind up getting?

Not a thing. Although, I think there was a comic that explored this premise in more detail.

The kid wanted "a piece of the action", which I always took as the kid wanting to get in on helping Kirk break into the gang lair. The "action" was the kid being in on the scheme. He saw it as fun.

Yeah, but Kirk promsed, he's in Starfleet, so he doesn't lie. I tink the kid would get to be a boss with a hefty territory, seeing how much he helped Kirk.

Of course, they're all imitating Starfleet thanks to Bones' slip. So the kid is probably a section chief of astrophysics or sometong like that.

Indeed. That was all it was. They got in the door, Kirk turned to the kid, pointed, smiled and said "A piece of the action".

By "a piece of the action," the kid was saying he wanted a cut of whatever loot Kirk was going to get. Kirk chose to interpret "action" literally, the action of breaking in, so he could blow the kid off without technically breaking his word.

I just assumed that "a piece of the action" meant that the kid wanted Kirk's sloppy-seconds.....

I saw the kid as a very young Bill Clinton. Go figure...............
