The History Channel gave into peer pressure and cancelled their airing of The Kennedys, and Reelz was smart to pick it up. The first two episodes gave the channel its highest ratings ever. Apparently, the channel has been around since 2006, but I had never even heard of it until I switched from DirecTV to Dish a couple of months ago.
After having watched the first two episodes, I'm intrigued, but not terribly impressed. The acting is all top notch, but I feel like there were some unnecessary time shifts that made things more confusing than they needed to be (think: The Event). If everything had progressed in a chronological order, I think I would have been more impressed.
Also, the score was really, really terrible. Larold Rebhun, the only one listed in the music department on IMDB, is an X-Files vet, and that music was always good... so I don't know what the deal is.
Anyway, if you have Reelz, check it out. I probably would have never watched it if it hadn't been for all the controversy, but it looks like it could have some good material in the upcoming episodes.
