The IT Crowd Series 5 delayed until April 2012

Well not all that bad, that's Hustle season 8 for Jan 2012, IT crowd for April 2012.......now if we can just get Screenwipes, You have been watching, 10 o'clock show, Have i got news for you and Would i lie to you, spread out over the rest of the 2012 it might not be that bad a year for TV....assuming 10 and YHBW make a return at all.

Peep Show series 8 should come out sometime 2012 too hopefully, I can't find much information on it; don't know if anyone here watches that (can't remember ever seeing a thread about it), but I think it's very funny.

Actually the news there's even going to be another series, is very welcome.

I felt sure the last one would be the end. Enough shows made for More 4 or E4 to repeat into oblivion.

Mind you I'm entirely guilty of rewatching simply because they're on. Like Father Ted.

From the article I posted:

The eighth series of Peep Show has been delayed until late 2012, as its writers, Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, are "taking a bit of a breather from it, to refresh the storylines and the characters".

... In the meantime, The IT Crowd, another C4 comedy fixture, is slated to return in April. ...

That's 8 months away! Awwwwwww...

This is the difference between UK comedy and US comedy, UK comedy is written by 1 or 2 people not with a 15-20 person writing team.

The UK writers sometimes need a long time to recover from the last series and to write the next series.

Aww, dammit.

Still, we got four series - for Linehan, that's quite the long runner! And there is the "special" to look forward to.

Bugger. I go from being happy it's coming in April to being disappointed it's not coming at all.

Maybe if they wait a while longer?

Yeap should have known, if i like it then thats usually the death knell of a TV show, Corry and Eastenders, hate them to bits, and they go on foreveer........Love Hustle and the IT crowd to bits....and they end up dead or dying.:wah:

I know but so many UK comedies end in random ways and so many end by months after they aired their last episode we get told oh by the way thats was last ever episode no new ones.

I'm not sure I think such shows (without a through story) need a "wrap-up" or 'final' episode, BUT...

I do think it would be nice to know a show is ending or in the process of ending before it finishes showing its run like JAX said.

Same goes for series renewals and pickups. Shows should know if they're coming back with more episodes before the last episode of a season/series airs.

I just found out they canned Memphis Beat a week ago, and I still think that was a huge mistake, but it would of hurt less to of known months ago instead of dragging it out.

Really gonna miss those I.T. Guys. (and Jen)

It's all down to the way Graham Linehan works. The IT Crowd is the longest runner he's had, and it seems as though he just couldn't get that fifth series done - even with the help of other writers. No Linehan, no IT Crowd. It wasn't cancelled or failed to be renewed - Linehan just pulled the plug himself.

That sucks, that was a funny show. Actually that's the only brit-com I've been seeing of the past 5 years. Any other good stuff?
