The eBook Star Trek: The Next Generation: Slings and Arrows Book 3: The Insolence of Office by William Leisner is now available for download! This story, which continues the six-part miniseries chronicling the year leading up to First Contact, focuses on La Forge and Troi -- showing how the former deals with a Starfleet order to have his VISOR replaced or be reassigned, and how the latter deals with her mother's pregnancy.

^ Not much of a dog who can't tell male from male.

You know I'm a guy, right? EMH knows. He found out last night. Personally. ;)

I was certainly getting confused! I was thinking but Omaha's a guy, right?

But what do I know, you're all just words on a screen.

Thanks to the A Time To ... series, some of us are words on pages too.

Wow! Now I've got to read those!

Yeah, I'm finally getting around to reading these (sorry, David!) and am about halfway through the third book.

I'm not going to say how it happens, but our furry mod Emh (under his real name) just met a ... shocking ... end.

The first two books are kind of slow. They drag a lot ... I didn't get to the point where I was ready to quit reading, but came close. Starting with the third book, the pace picks up, and the writing is so much better, it's hard to believe they're writing about the same characters.

No disrespect intended for the other authors in this miniseries, but I'm looking forward to Bob Greenberger's books the most. He is, after all, a god.

Ok, can anybody point me towards the first book? I went to Simonsays and found 2 and 3. Can't get the first one Slings and Arrows Sea of Troubles to come up. I want to give them a try.

Started and finished it in the middle of the night last night. Great story, and great characterizations.

As a belated Chriswanzakah gift, I've now posted my annotations for The Insolence of Office on the intertubes. So, for those curious about how many KRAD works I borrowed from, or which 1960s sitcom influenced the story, click on through!

(Needless to say, there are spoilers galore.)

(And yet, I said it anyways. Oh well.)
