The inevitable adjusted comparisons of the 11 Treks' overall takes

I never really bought the line of reasoning, "in today's devalued dollars, TMP really made this much money" What I think would really be indicative of Trek's ever-changing popularity is how many people saw each movie. And maybe that can be adjusted for percentage of the populace at the time? I don't recall any box office website ever doing this. Figuring out each region's take, adjusting for the region's ticket prices at the time, and coming up with how many people that translates into. Is that even possible to do at this point? Or are there official figures from back then? I wanna know!

The best I can do for you is a straight dollar adjusted amount. I can't be bothered to type the whole list, but using final figures from Box Office Mojo and and running them through any of a number of online inflation calcs, the best performing Trek movie thus far has been The Motion Picture with a worldwide take of $139,000,000 back in the day; and a 2009 adjusted final take of $459,081,747!

Boxoffice Mojo also says the average movie ticket price in 1980 was $2.69, so you could make a rough estimate from there.

Keep in mind there was almost no home video market at the time, and TMP had a long theatrical run. So it's almost certain that Trek 11 will never sell the same number of tickets, at least domestically.
