The incidental music for Discovery?

I don't much like the music for Discovery. The opening sounds like a music bed where I'm going to be sold supplemental home or auto insurance.

I really like the opening theme, but as others have said, the incidental music is barely noticeable in most scenes. It's an industry trend. I wish they'd go back to bold TOS style incidental music. The incidental music was really part of that experience and it still holds up very well, in my opinion.

I just wish there were more musical cues for the series, and maybe boost the music up a touch in the audio mixing. We know the generic fight music from Star Trek, we know the "treacherous" music (heard a lot in "Balance of Terror" and "Mirror, Mirror"), know the musical cues from "Best of Both Worlds" and Giacchino did a great job with the Abrams movies (not to forget Horner and Goldsmith).

But in DSC, it sometimes doesn't feel like there is any music there, which sometimes helps more than anything to convey a mood or situation.

It's the 'sonic wallpaper' motif that Berman era Star Trek had in spades (and it IMO sucked). That changed a bit with ENT (probably thanks to Manny Coto) - but I don't think the days of distinctive cues are totally gone from TV either. It's a production staff choice.
Earlier than Enterprise. Voyager's later seasons actually had a really upbeat theme used during its action scenes, though admittedly if you're binge watching the show, it can get a bit tiresome from overuse.
the Berman era music started to improve sometime after TNG ended, I'm thinking particularly of Chattaway's music for the finales during the 1996-1997 season "Scorpion" and "Call to Arms".
Species 8472's theme is probably one of the best Berman era tunes.
