The Guyver-The Bio Boosted armor anime'

I watched 6 discs of this on Netflix. It works way better than the live action movie with Mark Hamil and the black dude from Good Times. Freaky monsters just look better in a cartoon than they do with floppy rubber ears and goofy rubber faces. The movie was shown on HBO comedy because it was so bad.

The anime' is advertised as the new face of anime' ultraviolence. I wouldn't go so far as to say that. It has an acceptable level of violence. It isn't Pokemon level. You see people get blown up and disolved and the monsters get dismembered.

I always liked the look of the Guyver himself, even in the movie. There is more than one Guyver and each is a little different. There are these guys called ZoLords that are very powerful and the leaders of the monsters. I had just got to that part at what I thought was the final episode when I got a cliffhanger episode. Apparently there is a 7th disc. Unfortunately Netflix has it in the unknown location. It is in limbo. Now I can't see the final episode without buying the damn thing. I really wanted to see the Guyver jamming on the guitar too.

I see it at Best Buy on the shelf all the time while perusing the anime section, but I recall hearing bad things about it, so it never really caught my interest.

I saw the first volume back on vhs years ago. You can share my frustration in watching 2 or 3 eps on the tape, only to discover the video store never bought the rest of the series when I went back...Grrr.

I know the feeling. When the anime distributor Geneon shut down in 2007 it left two of my favorite titles in limbo, Black Lagoon and When They Cry. I was seriously pissed since they hadn't been fully released. :klingon:

Luckily, another company picked them up and I got to finish collecting them, which was awesome.

Sadly the industry here doesn't seem to be doing so hot at the moment. We used to have 7, now there's only 5 since Geneon and Central Park Media are out of the picture. (The first losing it's abillity to distribute and now distributes through Funimation and the second going bankrupt) Also ADV just had a big shake up and dissolved themselves. They now exist under the new name Section 23. So basically they still exist but under a new name with a different staff. :(
