The Glitz and the Glory-April Challenge

OK, looking back at my last few entries I realize we've been dealing with some (potentially) dark topics in the contest of late. Time to lighten it up.

3000 words(roughly, I don't think the Word Police are watching) about something as far from Starfleet as you can get. That's right, we're going to delve into-*drumroll, queue spotlight*

POP CULTURE!

Write about pop culture in the Star Trek era(s)-about their version of Tom Hanks, Charles Barkley, Brittany Spears, etc ad nauseum.

I've always been curious about what kind of talent rises to the top of the Federation or other Alpha Quadrant societies. Who gets chased by 23rd century paparazzi? Who gets invited to Opening Night, 24th century style?

One interesting point to consider-with the advent of modern electronic records, what older entertainment/pop culture icons survive into the future?

I think it's a terrific challenge idea and if I wasn't so swamped I would definitely give this a shot.

I'm going to try and write something. I'm involved in a pretty fast-moving round robin over at Ad Astra, but I do think I have an idea in my head for this and I've already sketched out the bare bones for it. Hopefully I can get it in in time, but we'll see.
