"The Gift" Line-by-Line

Hello, Welcome!

We recently finished our "I, Borg" Line-by-Line over in the TNG forum!

After each completed thread, using an extremely complex and technobabbly device called a Random Number Generator, also known as random.org, we select our winner and they are handed the keys to to car for the next thread.

And our winner was: Athena28! Our glorious victor chose "The Gift" to be our next Line-by-Line challenge!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

Our "rule" is that if the episode has a "To Be Continued..." on the end, it is done in a single thread, but if it's just an arc of related episodes, each episode is a separate thread.

As before, at the conclusion of this thread, I or CoveTom, BlueStuff, Enterprise1981 or leandar will run the randomizer to determine who will pick the next episode and get it going.

We see Cargo Bay 2, still mostly assimilated from the events in "Scorpion" Seven of Nine stands in her alcove, regenerating.

Janeway, Tuvok and The Doctor approach.

Janeway: So, hows the newest addition to our family?

 

[Enterprise1981]

THE DOCTOR: At the moment she's stable, but the prognosis isn't clear. Her human physiology has begun to reassert itself. Respiratory system, neurological functions, immune response. But those systems are swarming with Borg implants. There's a battle being waged inside her body, between the biological and the technological, and I'm not sure which is going to win.

 

[Lynx]

I hate this episode!

 

[Athena28]

JANEWAY: Well, it's time we brought her up to date. Wake her.

 

[Enterprise1981]

SEVEN: Captain Janeway, What have you? The others. I can't hear the others. The voices are gone.

 

[Orac]

Janeway: We had to neutralise the neurotransceiver in your upper spinal column. Your link to the Collective has been severed.

 

[Enterprise1981]

SEVEN: You will return this drone to the Borg.

 

[Athena28]

JANEWAY: I'm afraid I can't do that.

 

[LeadHead]

Seven: You will return this drone to the Borg!

 

[Athena28]

JANEWAY: If I were to turn this ship around and head back into Borg territory I'd be putting my crew at risk. I'm not prepared to do that. Try to understand. You have to stay on board Voyager. But I'm offering you freedom from the Collective, and I assure you we will do everything we can to help the transition.

 

[LeadHead]

Seven: You will supply us with a subspace transmitter and leave us on the nearest planet. The Borg will come for us.

 

[Enterprise1981]

JANEWAY: It's too late for that. Your human cells are starting to regenerate. You won't survive without medical care.

 

[Athena28]

SEVEN: We need nothing from you. We are Borg. We are...ah!

 

[JanewayRulz!]

EMH: This implant is being rejected by the tissue underneath. It's going to have to be removed.

 

[Leandar]

Seven: You will suppress the human immune system.

 

[JanewayRulz!]

EMH: I'm sorry, but the process has gone too far. We've got to get you to Sickbay.

 

[Enterprise1981]

SEVEN: No! We are Borg! We are Borg!

Tuvok holds Seven while the EMH sedates her.

 

[Athena28]

[Sickbay]

EMH: This armor plating is anchored to the skull with over 3,000,000 micro connectors. There's no time to cut through them. I'm going to have to remove the outer layer of the skull itself. Lieutenant, will you please leave the surgical bay.
