The production team of Star Trek: The Continuing Mission have released of part one of the Gene Roddenberry 1976 Lecture Tour audio series.

Hosted by Tim Renshaw, Gene's Master of Ceremonies during the tour, and voice of Captain Paul Edwards on Star Trek: The Continuing Mission, we learn about some interesting parallels between Star Trek: The Motion Picture and J.J. Abram's new Star Trek Motion picture, including how the studio originally wanted to completely recast the original TV crew with seasoned Hollywood movie stars.

The audio quality of the recording varies at times due to the age of the recording, and required a large amount of restoration work to be done on the original digital transfer.

We hope you enjoy the first installment of this rare and unique series.

Part one of the Gene Roddenbery 1976 Lecture Tour Series is available to download here.

I listened to the first part. The "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" Roddenberry refers to in that one appears to be "Planet of the Titans". The bulk of the remainder was reproduced on the Inside Star Trek record. As usual, ol Gene bends the truth for a laugh: saying how he gave Majel the role of Chapel and then double-crossing her by making Spock come into heat every seven years, which makes it sound like he came up with that, and not Amok Time author Ted Sturgeon.
