The Flags of AU American States

Sam McCord

Lieutenant Commander
Well, I've gotten a bit weary of trying to come up with alternate national flags for the time being, so I figured I'd begin doing the flags of the various individual states of the Americas from my AU Earth. We start with the the vast territory known as Texas:

And another of the largest territories, the land where the strange is normal, and anything can happen, California:

OOO ooo ooo! Do Washington and Oregon! Everyone ignores the Pacific Northwest, we need love too!

Well... for one thing, Washington state does not exist in my AU America... what we know of as Washington is part of Oregon state. That having been said...

There apparently is already a winner for a new Oregon state flag, as seen in the link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Oregon#New_Flag_Contest

However... if I were to do an AU Oregon flag, I have to say, I really like the colors of that contest winner... what I would do, is keep everything the same, but replace the beaver with an image of a covered wagon, to recognize the pioneer heritage of Oregon... I'd keep the yellow star to the west, and replace the beaver with the covered wagon, as a symbol of the pioneering trek toward that westward promise of gold.

So... if you like, I can whip that concept up, and show it to you.

Here is the ONLY state flag from the AU America that is unchanged from what we know in our own universe... the territory of Colorado:

One more for the night... the flag of the southwestern territory known as Arizonaland... in the AU America, New Mexico does not exist... it is part of Arizonaland.

What about Maryland? Does it still exist in AU America? If so, could you do a flag for that, please?

Damn... Maryland has a helluva busy-looking flag, lol. Well, yes, Maryland does exist in my AU, since it was one of the 13 original American colonies, but man... we have got to do something about that flag, lol... It NEEDS to be simplified, lol.

Okay... I'll have to think of what to do for Maryland... before I begin, are there any specific things YOU would want to see on an AU Maryland flag?

IMHO, Maryland already has the coolest flag. And I hear ya about the Oregon flag. I'm curious about the history you have devised for your AU project. do you have a map of the AU USA?

Yeah, I think MD's flag is so busy because it's the only state flag based on family heralds, the Calvert and Crossland families.

What would I want to see? Well, off the top of my head I'd keep the color scheme of yellow, black, and red as well as retain the cross.

Left side: red triangle with tip pointing right, white Crossland cross in center.

Right side: two horizontal stripes, one black and one yellow.

But that's just me. It's your design of course. I think something along those suggestions would greatly simplify it.

I really like all your AU flags because you have a less is more design philosophy, which I do as well.

Hey, all... just a heads-up that I'll be getting back to this soon, I just have some pressing real-life issues to contend with ATM... I've been out of work for over 2 years, have exhausted all my unemployment, and just found out I have but $20.00 to my name, so I'm pretty badly in need of some paying work right now, lol. If anyone knows someone who needs a custom logo or something designed for a small and fair fee, let me know, lol. But I'll get back to this as soon as things are looking up again.
