The one off 90 minute film for BBC Four will co-star Rory Kinnear, Peter Forbes and Katherine Jakeways. Gatiss will play Professor Cavor whose amazing invention Cavorite powers the first manned spaceship.
"I'm completely delighted to have the chance to bring this wonderful, funny, charming and scary story to BBC Four," Gatiss said. "It's very rare to be able to adapt a genius like H.G. Wells for the small screen and we hope to do full justice to his extraordinary vision."

to be aired in the UK 1 April 2010.

the last time 'First Men in the Moon' was adapted to a film was in 1964.
Surely this will make it to the US on PBS or SyFy?

Cool. The 64 was one of may favourite fims when I was a kid.

Lionel Jeffries was also one of my favourite actors. Good memories. :)

I am half-way through this book right now. What a coincidence.

Excellent news - I loved the 64 film as well.

Same here.

I love that era's SF adaptations of Wells' work. "Time Machine," "War of the Worlds," and "First Men in the Moon" are among my favorites of all time. ("The Invisible Man" with Claude Rains was okay, but... eh.)
