The first Easter Eggs of the year

A few days ago (OK, yesterday) I happened past our local convenience shop and couldn't help but notice that they are already selling Cadbury's brand chocolate Easter eggs in the shops. Not to mention placing great prominence on those egg-themed sweets, the humble Creme Egg and the underrated Mini Eggs.

This being January 12th, with the lands of winter not yet even completely defrosted, and they're starting early. I thought to myself, "They're certainly starting early this year." Despite the fact that this year Easter Sunday falls on 4th April - a nice in-the-middle date this time around.

Given the moveability of the dates of the Easter weekend, has anyone ever found chocolate Easter Eggs on an even earlier date?

I saw them at our local grocery store on Sunday. Criminy!

I wonder how long those things can sit out on a shelf before they go bad?

Yeah, saw a little Easter candy scattered around Wal-Mart a few days ago. And they've already put in half the Valentine's Day candy.

I first saw them here back in December. December!

Apparently the Mini Eggs are now year-round or something.

Apparently Easter Eggs went on sale in the U.K just after Christmas and consumers were decidedly unamused.

I don't buy (no pun intended) the claims by the retailers that the demand is there - more that as they article states they are making the demand (especailly if people can't resist the temptaion because they bought their eggs so early).

As for me - doesnt' matter how longer before Easter they come out, I buy them in the last couple of weeks before Easter.
I've heard that Easter Eggs are actually made the year before (i.e what you buy this year will have been around Easeter last year).

2nd of January I bought some Cadbury Creme Eggs from the service station when I was buying screenwash for the car. Also bought one of those large Quality Street chocolates, too. So, it was a bit of a clash of seasons, but it worked. :techman:
