The Firemen -- "Electric Arguments"

Paul McCartney's experimental/electronica side-project The Fireman just released their third album, Electric Arguments.

Probably McCartney's best album in the past ten years.

Despite being experimental, it's incredibly poppy, peppy, and accessible. It has the same experimental vibe that some of the best Beatles songs had. There are just some amazing sounds here.

I'm not sure that I could pick a favorite track yet; I've not heard it enough. For the nonce, "Sing the Changes" and "Dance 'Til We're High" are definite keepers.

Anyone else pick this up?

I dunno...The advertisements all said this exact same thing about his last 2 regular albums. Then I go and buy them and Shit. What is this Crap?
I love Macca and the Beatles as much as any Beatles fan but for people and the adverts to always claim it sounds like Beatles is just a gimmic to get Beatles Fans to buy his stuff. And the Last Decent Album he's done IMO was Flaming Pie...And that was what 10-12 years ago?

Without a doubt one of his better efforts. From what I've read, he's a bit pissed that with all the positive reviews, that it should have come out under McCartney's name instead of Fireman.
Just goes to show that Paul should use a egg timer everytime he enters the studio. All tracks were allotted one day each. This seems to cure him of over producing all the life from his records.
Next time you load yer MP3 player, do 'Nothing Just Out of Sight' next to 'Helter Skelter'.

Chaos and Creation is decent, but boring. Memory Almost Full is fairly good, but perhaps not up to the level of, say, Flaming Pie or, even further back, Flowers in the Dirt.

Electric Arguments is, imho, the Real Deal. If you've been waiting for McCartney to "wow" you, this is what you want. :)

And yes, I agree that the last decade has not been kind to McCartney musically. Flaming Pie is solid, Run Devil Run is fun but fluff, "Freedom" is excretable, "Vanilla Sky" is ghastly, Driving Rain is long and bland, and I've covered the other two albums above. I think I'd lost my faith in McCartney; Electric Arguments brought it back.
