The Far Side comic strip returning?

A new era of the The Far Side, the newspaper strip by Gary Larson, is coming.

Fans noticed over the weekend that the strip’s official website had been updated with a new cartoon and a message: “Uncommon, unreal, and (soon-to-be) unfrozen. A new online era of The Far Side is coming!”

I was a really big fan of the strip so I'm hoping when it returns that it's not a pale shadow of it's former self.

Yes, I've been saying for a while that Far Side should follow in Bloom County's footsteps (I even worked it into my own web comic at some point). But that little teaser has been on the site for weeks now with no further developments. Technically, it has not been confirmed that it will involve any new material.

So it looks like the new website is merely an official repository for the comic strip and Gary doesn't have any intentions of creating any new comics.
