The Fall

We watched this movie tonight and man, what a great film! Starring Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies, this is quite the gem. The cinematography is exquisite and the story is a flight of fancy! Anyone else ever see this?

Saw it when it came out in the theater. I was excited because of Tarsem's visuals. Looks great. Good story. The little girl was adorable. Ultimately, it's not higher on my list of the best because it was a little too dark. Too cynical. I think that hurt some of the fantasy elements.

Hey, that makes three of us who've seen this movie so far! :D

Oddly, I liked the "real life" section of the story more than the wild fantasy, which was mainly good for the insane visuals but didn't really hang together as a fable. I guess it wasn't supposed to, since it was being invented on the fly by a guy who was distracted by much bigger issues, beyond what the little girl could understand.

Damn, I thought you were talking about the band! 'The Infotainment Scan' is one of my favourite albums... :D

It was a mixed bag; amazing visuals, artistically interesting, but really dark and depressing and slow. It's the same premise of Baron Munchaunsen, and like that superior film, the flashback/fantasy story starts off amazing and quickly becomes sad and confused. It was REALLY weird to see Lee Pace in such a serious dark role; I've only seen him in Pushing Daisies!
