The Expanse Season 3

B.J.

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Season 3 starts tonight (April 11)! Very much looking forward to it!

Is there a recap anyone knows of? It's been so long, I've kinda forgotten where exactly all the characters currently are, and what the situation is.

Tonight !?! W00t !

I just did a season 1 & 2 rewatch recently so I'm really ready for this one ... Bring it on!:beer::hugegrin:

Q2

They didn't really advertise the return of the series too much. I expect low ratings and cancelation :-(

Pretty sure on Netflix they have a recap towards the ends of the episodes list

Actually this is a show that has weird circumstances - Netflix pays off almost the entire show's budget for the rights to show it internationally. It can get renewed even with low ratings.

(confusing phrase removed) can you post anything other than doom and gloom about low ratings and potential cancellation?

hmm checking my tivo and my Canadian cable provider has a behind the scenes special listed for tonight, not a new ep.

But I'm going err on the safe side and set a manual recording.

Looking forward to Season 3 quite a bit. I liked how they ended the first book and started the next story midway through season 2. I hope they do the same for season 3. (I've yet to read the books though. on my to do list.)

I don't expect the TV series will get as far as covering the events of "Persepolis Rising" as there is such a big time gap. I wonder if the strategy of adapting approximately 2/3rds of each book per season will be abandoned at the end of the 3rd season in favour of one book per season. It would be good if they could get to adapt at least all of "Abaddon's Gate" before cancelation.

An adaptation of "Cibola Burn" to a complete season or longer could turn into a complete snorefest and lose viewers. Perhaps shorten or skip it and concentrate on "Nemesis Games" and "Babylon's Ashes"? However, those latter two are tightly connected and cancellation partway through would likely cause much wailing and gnashing of teeth among fans.

Felt a bit like a soft first episode, reintroducing where everyone is and what they are doing. The story line with Gunny and the UN Secretary was pretty fun. Everything else felt like moving the pieces around for something more next week.

I liked the episode. Basically the U.N and Mars will be going at it in the next few episodes while the Belters will watch and wait to play their card.

I like this TV Series because it kinda features some elements of the UN Government as a bad guy. Mars are not totally innocent either. They did help fund the research into the protomolecule weapon project.

Earth got the numbers, Mars got the tech and the Belters got the cool accent. :)

Fred Johnson's second-in-command is really impressing me in this episode. We see her badass side with the upside down workout scene, and her being sarcastic and pissed with Fred at the bar was a great scene.

That seems to be what they're doing. According to casting information I've seen on other websites, characters from the third novel will be introduced on the show around episode five or so, basically the same point last year when they began covering second novel material.
