the cape midseason ender feburary 28 2011 :scream::scream::scream:

I like both shows and I think nbc should run both of them back to back as a sci fi line with chuck. which is also a great show . I love that they brought john laurqett back to television . if you remmber him night court and star trek 3 the search for spock and boston legal . Now the cape just gets better each episode espacialy with summer glau in it.

currently watchin supernatural season 4 and smallville season 4.
currently reading games of throne and stephen king's dark tower gunslinger

I am a BOOKAHOLIC and a TELEVISION addict but not a gammer sorry.

R.O.D

Have you seen the ratings for those shows? NBC needs to lose The Event and The Cape. Chuck will probably get chucked (sorry :D) after this season. NBC is piling on the pilots for next season in the hopes of actually getting a show or two with a pulse.

I couldn't get through the first five minutes of The Event, and gave up on The Cape after the third episode.

NBC needs good shows!

I don't go by ratings other wise I would've watched lost . which I hated . I go by what I like and I like the event and the cape and chuck all good shows that need backing by its fans .

die hard smallville fan and I love no ordinary family .

john played the last surviving klingon . and No oridinary family kicks but . when wonder woman comes on I will watch that as well.

Considering that all the other shows you have watched will be canceled, it will be the only one you watch.

I've been watching it but am not expecting it to go to season 2. I was even beginning to doubt that it would return after its 'mid-season break' (and what the hell are those all about?).

Th Event's mid season break is because they were retooling the show (too late) to try to save it, so they needed more time.

It's on NBC, they have to show the remaining episodes because they don't have enough shows to fill in the spaces.

I was referring more generally to the fact that every series now seems to require a 'MSB.' Remember when shows just used to actually run for a whole, uninterrupted season?! But thanks for clarifying why that show, at least, took one. :)

Well to explain overall what I see them doing...

The break for Christmas makes sense to me, and had always been done (but I'm 25, so maybe not). There used to be 26+ episodes of shows a year, now there is 20-22, so they need more breaks / longer Christmas break to make up for the "lost" episodes.

Breaks don't bug me, what pisses me off is when they have an 8 week break, a new episode or two, then a rerun, then another two episodes, then two more reruns. Houses seems to do that at least once a year, just random new episodes in a middle of a break.

Seasons in the U.S. have always run 21 to 23 episodes in most cases. I can't recall anything having 26+ episodes per season, maybe nighttime soaps like Dallas?

Ummm... the Star Treks.

Plus Batman and old prime time cartoons (like The Fintstones) used to have more than 25 episodes a season.

However looking into shows like homicide, seem to only have 22 episode seasons. What I found is that they didn't have a big season break, nor did they show all the shows in a row. They had 2-3 new episodes, a few weeks of repeats, a month of new shows, two repeats.

So maybe only in my mind where more shows seasons shorter, but the same can be said about the amount of breaks in a season. it's all just in our heads!

You may not go by ratings but NBC sure does. That's why NBC is not going to run those three shows together like you suggested. Most likely they aren't going to run those three shows at all after the current season. There's no point making comments that have no bearing whatsoever on reality. (Outside of TNZ, that is. :rommie:)

I love no ordinary family .

Well, I got more bad news...

Wow. Lots of unsuccessful (and deservedly so) sf/f shows around. Toss V into the mix, too.

I seem to remember 26+ episode seasons further back in time, but the biggest change is that series used to run reruns during the hiatus periods so that people would stay in the habit of watching the show in that timeslot. And shows weren't moved around in a self-defeating game of hide and seek. Of course serialized shows and reruns don't really mix too well.

But reruns don't work well anymore even for episodic series because there's too much competition on cable. Rather than re-watch episodes they've already seen, people will jump to cable and see something new and forget the show they were watching before.

I watch v as well and you don't have to be nasty about that I don't go by ratings .
as far as watching reruns I do that as well . I watch smallville on hd met and I watch supernatural on tnt . also angel on tnt and buffy on chill . Love classics like forever knight . and if they would sindicate dark shadows I would do that as well.

currently reading tales of the slayer vol.2
currently watching smallville season 4 & supernatural season 4

also loved caprica and stargate universe shows which were getting better.
networks need to realise there is a thing called story and character development.
