The Event - does it suck? (British viewer questions)

It's nothing new. Some people watched ALL 176 episodes of Voyager and bitched about all of them. That's dedication.

Don't bother watching. A series that is as moronic as The Event turned out to be for its first few episodes doesn't need to be rewarded with new viewers.

Jason Ritter is adorable.

Everybody else is being kept ambiguous, apparently because ambiguity is some big arty clever writing shtick, but which means in fact we don't actually have much idea after all this time who these people are.

I watch it because it's the only thing on Monday nights I can tolerate.

I found absolutely nothing to hook me through the first and whatever of the second episode I could be bothered with.

It's getting pretty boring now to expect that every new show has to ape Lost and that we have to prepare to swallow lots of long and convoluted story lines, go online and solve riddles to understand more of the plot etc etc just show me the fricking story already :scream:

so, you basically like shows that contain mindless drivel instead of those that make you think?

If The Event makes you think than the writers aren't doing their job well. It's mindless entertainment, just look at the weekly reviews filled with plot holes you can fly a plane through.

It's a convoluted mess, but it does just enough to keep me watching, though I'm not fully engaged. For me, I'm more interested in President Martinez, Agent Lee, Sophia, and Thomas part of the story than Jason Ritter and his girlfriend. I do think the show has done a poor job weaving these two storylines together and hope they correct that soon. I mean, it seems like they are almost two different series and that the Ritter storyline has been given outsize importance.
