Lots to catch up on; watching final episodes of The Wire season 5 with my son.

As much as I like this series, it still seems like they haven't the slightest clue where it's going.

Is everyone out celebrating Columbus Day or have y'all just given up on this show? Because I'll stop making the weekly threads if interest has died. :)

I just started watching tonight on Hulu...I like it. Its not the best show out there but its on par with Lost or 24 (I think). It reminds me of a smarter version of 24 with a scifi backstory...its very fast.

I stopped watching it

I don't think there's much interest in a weekly thread. Maybe there should just be a season thread like Dexter and Castle.

I saw Hal Holbrook's name in the credits but he never appeared in the show. Then I realized he was the voice on the phone giving orders to Vicky Roberts.

Lost survived like this for 6 seasons. OTOH, Flashforward didn't.
Time will tell where The Event is going. I like it so far and hope it does well enough not to be killed in the middle of the story ...

Re: The Event: "A Matter of Life and Death" - Oct. 11 - Grading/Discus

Lost survived because it was, at least initially, a deeply character-centric series. And because viewers became deeply invested in the characters, they were more likely to go along with its increasingly outlandish mysteries. The Event began ass-backwards, as a deeply mystery-centric series. No wonder it's having difficulty getting viewers to become deeply invested.

Re: The Event: "A Matter of Life and Death" - Oct. 11 - Grading/Discus

I'm getting bored with the show. It was about 10 minutes of plot with 20 minutes of useless flashbacks and 10 minutes of rehashed scenes

Re: The Event: "A Matter of Life and Death" - Oct. 11 - Grading/Discus

I hope they have a way to wrap up the mysteries of this show quickly because it's not going to last. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

So they kidnapped the girlfriend in order to lure Sean to his dooooom? Well why didn't they just kill Sean on the boat instead of...oh never mind. :rommie: These are the same people who killed people in order to bring them back to life so that they could slowly die from nosebleeds.

This show is just throwing stuff around in order to fill airtime between ads. Sean and FBI Cat Lady are fun enough to watch for the time being, but my interest is waning rapidly...

Re: The Event: "A Matter of Life and Death" - Oct. 11 - Grading/Discus

I watched the first four episodes today.

Overall, I like the show, but have the sense of dread that they won't be able to deliver a knockout punch.

What is the deal? Are these aliens? People from another dimension? Or the future? How can they go four hours without one person asking the question: "Where the hell did these people come from??" Sometimes shows like this have to stretch out the plot, so they avoid having characters ask glaringly obvious questions. (Haven does this alot).

I suppose the answer is the President knows from his friendship with whatserface, and bad guy from Heroes must know too. They just aren't discussing it. Since the President never go to his press conference, I guess we're in the dark like the rest of the world.

Anyway, so they've been imprisoned for no particular reason in Alaska for 66 years?? Meanwhile the ones who escaped the crash have been living amongst us all this time just chillin'?

I will give it one extra point for DB Sweeney. I've always liked him. Hopefully he'll have more to do.

All in all, I'd say a B-.
