How could we get rid of the shuttle theory? Shuttle would be too slow and no medical section?

I did say "oaths of allegiance and service" The "oath to protect the safety of her own crew" would be an oath of service, which medical ethics overrule. It's not just an oath of allegiance though. It's an oath to protect the safety of her own crew,
Only if they have provable mental health issues, of which this Romulan wasn't displaying anything that could be classified as such.Plus, even within medical ethics there are times when the patient's judgement is deemed compromised enough to dismiss.

The oath to protect the safety of her crew is part of her medical ethics. She's charged with their well being 1st. Lesson #1 in medic training is a dead medic helps no one, & putting yourself/your crew at risk to render aid, or in this case cease it, is not obligatory, when it endangers them all.I did say "oaths of allegiance and service" The "oath to protect the safety of her own crew" would be an oath of service, which medical ethics overrule.
He's in their custody. His death endangers them all, & his "choice" to die under those circumstances, declared simply over bigotry, presents a suspicious motive, as a hostile act. His judgement isn't necessarily impaired, but it is suspect of hostile intent, & thereby null, just as if he were a suicide bomber with a timebomb embedded in him, refusing to let them remove it, so he could kill them all. They don't have to respect that request.Only if they have provable mental health issues, of which this Romulan wasn't displaying anything that could be classified as such.
The Romulan was barely surviving in a galaxy class sick bay. He'd have much less chance in a shuttle. How could we get rid of the shuttle theory? Shuttle would be too slow and no medical section?![]()
Fair question. We don't know... because we don't know what they were doing down there in the 1st place, but it was likely malevolent, & letting them further encroach could be more so. If criminals break into your house, & one gets hurt doing it, it's inadvisable to let more in, to give them a better chance to aid him.Let the Warbird get him and then escort the Romulans out of Federation territory. How much damage would be done?
It would be more singularly compassionate to let them come get him, but not more sensible imho, & potentially hazardous. I'd also argue that letting them in would be a sign of weakness that would actually create more unstable Federation/Romulan relations. It would make more sense to allow the Romulans to save their officer, It would be beneficial with Federation and Romulan relations.
